Yes, your use of satire was correct. Saying the tag was a hint was not, that is a blatant attempt at telling this collection of, uh, intellectuals that you made a funny.

No hard feelings here. I would say the community has a small population of responders that have no idea what satire is but understand when they see the tag that the person isnt serious.
