Can't get past level 26
I'm having trouble getting past lvl 26. I've done plenty of strikes and few Eris bounties and a lot of regular bounties. I have rank 1 Vanguard and FWC. Do I just need to get them to level 2 and 3 to really do anything?

dont try leveling up a faction till at least 28

Do ROC strikes and daily story, also try to save Strange Coins for an exotic armor piece. I was stuck at 26 for like a month.

I'd suggest sticking with vanguard till you get better gear. Then have someone carry you trough CE for more gear. That, or I believe one of Eris' run quests gives you thrall skin gloves. That should give you the boost to 27? I think...

Just stick to vanguard unless you're playing a lot of Crucible, too.

Try VoG. Also focus on your vanguard ranking. Try a lot of Vanguard strike playlist as well (Vanguard Roc preferably) -
Get rank to buy the vanguard armor then have someone run you through crota

I would probably get on VoG normal. It's the highlight of the game imo and you might get lucky and receive a full set (excluding helm) of raid gear within a few runs.

You need to rank up ur rep with vanguard, and get some legendary armor. This is what really helped me with my Titan! [spoiler]my friend is having the same problem... I did as well at one point, I think every goes through it.[/spoiler]

This is what I do if I'm starting a new character. I go balls hard in Vangaurd Strikes until I get max marks for two weeks while doing bounties each day to get my Vanguard lvl up to 3. Then you can buy Vangaurd gear. Then once I get to lvl 27, 28 I do the Eris Morn Urn Sacrifice Bounty because one you do that she will give you a free legendary piece of gear that has 33 light on it. Easiest way without having ppl to do raids with. Lvl up your vanguard to lv2 Buy vender gear, max them out. bamn! lv 31 Or add me on ps4. once you hit lv 27 i can help you with getting some crota raid armor (32 when full raid gear maxed out. ) Collect strange coins to buy exo gear from xur.

Try to buy some legendary gear. If you mostly play pve level up your vanguard rank. You need level 2 to buy gear and level 3 for weapons. Once you hit rank 2 you can buy gloves and boots. They will cost 75 marks each. To buy a chest piece you need 75 marks and a commendation. You get commendations for vanguard rank 3 and each rank above that. So do your bounties as often as possible and run roc strikes from the playlist to get marks. You may even get lucky and get a legendary gear drop from the strikes. Finally try to get an exotic helmet by getting 13 strange coins and buying one from xur. You will need ascendant shards to level the gear, so do the daily and vault of glass normal. If you get everything to light level 33 you will be rank 31.

Don't wear faction items and just do bounties, level up your vanguard and you can buy lvl 31 gear.

Make friends and raid

Farm vanguard/crucible and buy armour from the vendors. It's got more light than the vog armour anyway. Once you've got that leveled up you'll be able to do nightfalls and raids to get much more good gear

Run Vault of Glass normal mode, or level up factions.

Get any legendary gear, and in order to get legendary gear you need to find it or buy it from crucible, vanguard, or any other faction at rank 2

Level up your faction. It's tedious, unrewarding work. Yes, it is work. That's why I don't even care much about this game anymore, but I come back every now and then. I will probably be level 30 by 2025.

I'd recommend just putting the fwc class item on and doing all the bounties (or most) every day. You'll get the ranks pretty quickly, and if you're playing a decent amount of crucible you'll be able to buy armor soon

Upgrade to rank three, buy armor. Then raid. Do as many crucible and vanguard bounties every day you can. Do dailys for ascendant material. Then Crota for radiant
