I agree, it should be something fun and new....... You know what would have made it better? Having a raid with it, they could have tied it into the survival game play or had it work with the new game play in multiple ways instead they leave it off "for now?" And only give us a game mode we are all more than familiar with and will probably get tired of much faster.
