I watched a video of a guy soloing The Abyss. It looked completely stupid. He ran back and forth a bunch of times and killed a bunch of thrall with grenades and then he jumped in a white light. Wow that is really exciting - NOT.
I really don't think I have missed much by skipping the raids.
