Thank you for that very well written reply. I'm sure attacking those corpses will make things a whole easier, and I completely forgot about Soul Vessels! I guess now is the time to try a STR build.
I saved the Red TwinBlade but unfortunately I didn't choose that bow. I'll try to find to find something else to substitute.
And this is a completely different question, but any tips for being summoned for Co Op? I'm wearing the Name Engraving Ring plus using the small soap sign, and I'm trying to be summoned for boss fights so I can get that Miracle for 30 tokens. I've only been summoned once in the past two days that I've spent around 1 and a half hours waiting around with no luck.

Take off the name-engraved ring. All that does is makes it easier for people who both choose the same god to find each other. So for instance if you are playing with a friend but you're in an area that has a lot of summon signs, you both would put the ring on and choose the same god so that way you would only see someone with that god and nobody else would see your sign unless they just so happened to have chosen that same god too. So yea, just take the ring off and you'll get summoned a bunch more :)
