So apparently Bungie tried to patch the Archon Priest Strike in 1.1.2 without telling anyone and did it poorly. You can no longer snipe from above the Vex Waves spawn half way through the strike at all without risk of breaking the whole strike. I had read that you couldn't use the highest rock anymore so I wasn't even that far away. I was sniping from where you shoot the 4 goblins right when you first enter the area. I made it to the second wave just fine and then everything de-spawned and I had to go re-engage the door. After killing the first wave a second time nothing else spawned and I couldn't re-engage the door, I had to just go back to orbit.
Just trying to make some other people aware so others don't have to waste their time like I did. After some more research a decent way around this is to just leave one enemy and run down there to kill it then sprint back up to the top.
UPDATE: (Thanks beedel): "This is unintentional" per bungie: https://twitter.com/bungie/status/590576802713706496
Edit - added bold and attempted to clarify what is broken.

That also happened to me

To all the people saying "LOL. UNINTENTIONAL. Ya right Bungeeeeee!" You guys are idiots. They want this game to succeed more than you do. Bungie is the first game studio that I actually saw care about their fans. I mean, they even acknowledged its a damn mistake. Holy Christ some of you are ridiculous.

Happened with me on the weekly was with Randoms so couldn't communicate straight away. Eventually we all wiped and the door worked afterwards.
-
Happen for me a few times just popped another glimmer pill and kept going lol
-
I did it three times last night, never once glitched. I personally opened the door each time. I stayed in the general area where the 3 hobgoblins spawn in the second wave. I never went on the rocks other than to do a revive and jumped down immediately. I never went to the lower area, killing floor, until after the third wave completion. Didn't have an issue. Seems to only affect when all three people are out of potential melee range.
-
Easy fix for now, use your sniping spots but save one enemy, kill him with your party at the fighting area, then run back as they spawn in. It wont reset as long as your fireteam is there when the wave ends.
-
Another prime example of the trashy community we have.
-
I started the door ran up killed all the enemies........then nothing. I had to restart the door
-
I know this happened while I was soloing xD
-
Had this happen multiple times
-
Wow where do you guys run this strike from?? I ran it over ten times last night with clan memebers and not once did we have an issue
-
It also reset for me at the two hydras, killed all enemies and they all respawned again
-
One person deploy their ghost and sit behind the rock on the right by the door, the other guys snipe from normal spot its fast then before.
-
I solod that part twice before anyone else joined no problem snipeing from the 4 goblins spot np. Not sure why everyone else has issues.
-
No it isn't shut up
-
Must be fun sniping where no enemies hit you. It takes 10x longer, is boring af and is not a challenge

Edited by Deez: 4/22/2015 4:55:38 PMTo be fair, with all burns on this was one of the easiest and quickest night falls I've done. Like everyone has said, you don't even need the perch anymore, just hit him with all your rockets as soon as he is ready to take damage. Did it in under 10 seconds no joke. EDIT: Also doesn't have to be three gjallarhorns
-
It was due to the dlc missions overlapping in the area and it was unintentional though
-
That hasnt happened to me.
-
Just fight them where you are intended to it isn't that hard
-
This happened to me too, so one of my friends just stayed down a little closer while 2 of us sniped and it worked fine
-
Hiding behind rocks LOL 3 Ghallahorns had him dead in 10 seconds.
-
Any one ever go to ketch ship and just snipe?
-
I ran it 3 times yesterday, with no issues.
-
Works fine without cheese

Unintentional, LOL. Bungie has wasted most of their time changing anything that gives players an advantage. This, the Atheon teleporting, etc. Had they actually allocated those resources to something useful, they could've created several new strikes by now. Or maybe addressed some of the actual problems with this game. But instead, they focus on trivial little things like this because they think it will make the game tougher, and you'll play a little longer. This is what they do, rather than actually develop some worthwhile new content. There will be no raid, but they've changed yet something else that no one but them cared about. Lmfao, these guys are a joke now...
