WARNING - Archon Priest Strike Broken After Patch 1.1.2

So apparently Bungie tried to patch the Archon Priest Strike in 1.1.2 without telling anyone and did it poorly. You can no longer snipe from above the Vex Waves spawn half way through the strike at all without risk of breaking the whole strike. I had read that you couldn't use the highest rock anymore so I wasn't even that far away. I was sniping from where you shoot the 4 goblins right when you first enter the area. I made it to the second wave just fine and then everything de-spawned and I had to go re-engage the door. [b]After killing the first wave a second time nothing else spawned and I couldn't re-engage the door, I had to just go back to orbit.[/b] Just trying to make some other people aware so others don't have to waste their time like I did. After some more research a decent way around this is to just leave one enemy and run down there to kill it then sprint back up to the top.   • I did 3 yesterday, one with each character, and while I didn't do that each time, I did it with my lower level Hunter and nothing bad happened...

  • Ran archon last night. I sniped from the left(facing) of the door after activating it. Good cover and nice field of view. Only a couple of spots I couldn't hit because of rocks. Other guys were near the hobgoblin cave. Cruised through with no issue. The door is almost as good a sniping spot and it doesn't trigger the glitch.

    • Done it 6 times (3 Nightfall, 3 Weekly) with atleast one person up there each time and I never encountered that problem man, you sure you werent just bugging out?

            • So I've noticed. We had to go back to orbit too [b]TIP:[/b] We tried keeping closer to our 'little light'. At first that seemed pretty risky, but there is a spot where you're pretty in the middle of the action but can still snipe. Just run back up the hill a little bit until the road forks: the path on the left leads directly to the top (where you came from), the path to the right leads to a cave where in the second wave three hobgoblins spawn. The 'fork' in the road consists of a small hill on which you can jump for a better view of the area. Just keep your head down for the hobgoblins sniping from ground level and be prepared for those three hobgoblins spawning behind you and you're good to go! Still, I really DO hope Bungie won't interfere with our playing styles. Like Tagonyst said: sniping is tactics. Why have a large open area with sniping and scouting rifles with incredible zoom options if you can't use them? Besides, players are not to blame when they make use of a safe sniping spot. All Bungie has to do, is make the enemy a bit more agressive. Countersniping (hobgoblins do a great job at it!), bombarding (which those minotaurs also do pretty well) and overtaking a sniper spot (why do the enemies stay back? if a minotaur with no head can rush up, why not the rest of the mob?) should make it more interesting.

              • I had the same issue when I was doing the heroic and other players kept quitting and joining and I got pretty annoyed

                • Bugged out for me 3 times. Had to restart nightfall 2 of those 3 times. Still finish 3 nightfalls... After 5 starts tho.

                      • Move up to the rock beside the hobgob spawn cave but make sure to take them out right at wave 2. It's how I did it before this "unintentional" issue and it still worked for me x 3 nightfalls yesterday. Be warned though u can actually get shot and die from there

                      • This happened to me and my friends in the nightfall, it didn't actually make it any more difficult but it makes me angry the bungie continue to fiddle with the way we play the game. I know the said it was unintentional but i don't believe them.

                      • I enjoy sniping whilst eating my dinner, so used the rock in solo last night. Was definitely broken. My way round it was to leave one minor enemy up in the field below, pop down and kill that last one, then the next wave spawns properly. If you clear all enemies from the rock you most assuredly have to keep going to the door to restart wave one. I understand everyone plays differently. My issue is with developers trying to change people's playing style. Snipers are in the game for a reason. There shouldn't be dead zones on an open map.

                      • I didn't have any problems running the Nightfall. All 3 times people were on the sniping rocks.

                      • Ran the nightfall solo earlier and had zero problems. I'm glad Bungie is fixing an unintentional bug, but good lord. You guys having issues must be running MILES away from the action.
