I always snipe from the ketch ship. Did they patch that too?

You have to be in range for them to shoot back when the wave is finished off or you have to restart the sequence. Best to leave one goblin (preferably headless) alive. Move in close and finish it off and let the next wave spawn as you retreat to your perch.
