The line in Time's Vengeance: "Guardians make their own fate" has baffled me for so long. If there's anything after Atheon I believe it's due to one of these two things:
1) Do not damage Atheon while T'sV is active
This would mean people who are guarding the plates would need to lay in to him whilst the Oracle team are making their way through
2) Do not damage Atheon at all
This is something that's been in my mind for a while as well, as it seems everything is set up so Guardians rush through it but the last line of his Grimoire (after talking about his purpose) is odd: "This is all speculation".
Why add that line in at all if what was previously said either is correct or is wrong and something we'll find out in Destiny 2+? It just doesn't make sense either way.
If I had to pick one to be the most likely I'd say it's #2. I know he'll enrage eventually and Minotaurs will come out but it would be interesting to find out what actually happens if you keep going on with it.
And before anyone says about how the cheesers who pushed him off would've triggered one of these two things, I don't believe that would be the case because:
1) Grenades do damage and he dies
- failing #2
2) T'sV wouldn't have been activated and therefore we wouldn't have had the chance to decide on how we 'make our own fate'
- failing #1 & #2
If anyone is down for this on PS4 then let me know - we can do it on Normal.

What if, as you went in to do gatekeeper and kill Atheon, you had a warlock stay outside the door. This would need to be done without wiping, but what if whenever people are about to get teleported the warlock kills himself the. Self reses so he's still outside the door and when Atheon is killed he goes and looks around for things. Just a thought since you mentioned Atheon could have to be killed to find the chest.

Edited by IAMZLATAN: 4/21/2015 5:46:36 PMWell the Gatekeeper and Atheon stages are completely separate the process is this: 1) Go in each portal, pick up the Relics, one person defends centre Conflux 2) When both Relics are outside, defend the central Conflux, Relics disappear 3) Get rewards, Atheon comes out 4) Wait a bit and do the Atheon Oracle/T'sV part Now, two things strike me as odd at point 2 above: 1) Having 6 guardians is massively overkill - Why aren't there more enemies to keep all 6 guardians occupied? - There's only 3 points at which Minotaurs come down from and each point on its own is no more difficult than when one person guards the Conflux at point 1 above 2) The entrance door is open again at the stage and shuts in about 5 seconds after the Relics disappear - Why have they programmed that in? - Yet people have tried going out and looking around but nothing can be found. Edit: The main concern I have with your theory is that it relies solely on the Warlock and the self-res. If there was something tied to this then I'd be very surprised as it could essentially limit people getting loot based on the members of their fireteam

Maybe the gate shuts after the gatekeeper part is done so that it gives a chance for someone to run out. And maybe there is a way to re open it so that everyone may run back out and get any secret loot

Possibly mate, yeah. I got out once and it didn't port me, not sure what would happen if everybody got out of there!
