When will you morons understand it's not about the price, it's about the principal. Certain gamers are tired of having to buy dlc with every game. Just increase the price to 80-100$ from start instead of claiming it's 60 for half the game then getting the rest 40$ later. You guys are making empty unrelated analogies, comparing physical life sustaining things to digital imaginary ones. Whether for entertainment or not, you wouldn't go to a movie theater pay 10$ then at the end pay another 5$ for the rest would you? Dlc are supposed to be expansions, not rips offs. Game devs have been abusing dlc for a few years now and it seems they're making it a requirement to play a complete -blam!-ing game. Nobody cares if you can afford to waste money at every whim. Most people are more selective with their spending. Money is an investment. .you buy gas to invest into your destination, you buy food to invest into your body, you buy entertainment to invest into your mental joy(hours played =/= joy).investments should not constantly require more investing. If you have to invest more money the return should be equal to the initial return. Meaning that if I go to the movies and watch a 2 hour movie, then if I want to watch the sequel, the sequel should be 2 hours as well. If I go to a restaurant and order a meal, and I'm asked to order another meal, the following meal should be just as good or fill me up just as much. If I buy a game for 60$ and buy dlc for damn near 40 $ the dlc should add a substantial amount of things close to the amount of content initially found on the original game. People owned/achieved(or could've owned) everything TDB had to offer within a week or two, unlike the initial launch of Destiny where people took weeks/months to get everything. They abuse the loot system to make u think content is more than what it is forcing you to play hours on end thinking you're getting your money's worth. It's a cheap yet effective gimmick, but still a gimmick nonetheless. Like I said nobody cares if you spend 20$ in a few hours on irrelevant things, telling people to get jobs is ignorant as -blam!-. Some people have minimum wage jobs where they make maybe 40-50$ a day IF they're fulltime, Before taxes. After they pay for food, gas, and living expenses they're probably left with 5$ leisure money if they spend right, so yes 20$ is enough to raise valid concern if it's overpriced you -blam!-ing super consumers.

  • I'm only responding to the bottom portion of your post. If people after taxes are making 30 bucks per day, then they should be worrying about a. Bettering their education to make more, or b. Spending time to find a better job. NOT PLAYING VIDEO GAMES.

  • That's bs, playing video games isn't so much of a luxury that poor people should be deprived of the experience altogether. There are plenty of video games that are affordable. And if even the ones they choose to play aren't affordable then it's a thing called saving that allows them to splurge on such things like video games. U have no right to tell someone they shouldn't be playing video games, especially since you have unhealthy and expensive habits yourself. Video games are a hobby for people, and you should always have the freedom to do what you want in life. Mental happiness/health is very important to having a quality life. If you deprive yourself of things you like to do most you'll find yourself ending up depressed or at the very least in bad mental health. I was in that very predicament in my teen years. I'm not saying playing video games is a life necessity, but I am saying if someone chooses to play video games while barely making enough to survive, it's a reason for that. And putting their 5$ in the bank will not make them happier at the end of the month when they have a whopping 100$ saved from depriving their selves of life's joys. Gaming is a luxury yes, but that doesn't mean only the rich should have access to it. So this trend of overpriced games need to stop.

  • You took that out of context. No its not only for the rich. But if said person can only save $5 per week, but plays 25+ hours of games per week...some things wrong.

  • Not 5$ a week, 5$ leftover a day, as and that's if they work fulltime. And I can almost guarantee the people I'm referring to don't spend nearly as much time playing as you and i, but the money they spend should be valued regardless. Companies are starting to set prices at whatever they can get away with instead of what's fair is what I'm getting at. Just because middle class and upper class people can afford shit set at an unfair price doesn't mean the lower class should be deprived of it. This type of unhealthy spending and price setting is contributing to the decline of the American dollar as well as the increase in debt. We have a false image of what's "affordable" vs what's "sustainable".

  • Investments often do require additional investments to be made, just do some reading on investment dilution. That occurs, for example, when you invest into a company for XYZ% but someone who pays the same or greater amount later reduces your % ownership of that investment. The only way to retain your position is to invest more. Regarding Destiny - a lot of people have been playing this game either religiously or casually for 6+ months now. If you're not willing to pay more for that experience then so be it but don't complain that there is the option to do. Many people wish to extend their Destiny experience and these expansions are the only way to do so. Some games can be flipped around and completed in a weekend and still cost $60, Destiny has kept some people engaged for half a year. No-one HAS to buy the DLC, also please note the raising the price of the game is an option and it's something Destiny did. You could buy various versions that bundled the season pass in with it effectively meaning you only pay once for future DLC. That option was available for those who could afford it. Anyone of us can at any point make the decision that they've got as much value out of Destiny as they can or they're willing to get and move on. So let's not talk like we're trapped with no way out.

  • Nowhere in my post did I say gamers felt trapped. Also the investment part was a small part(you also danced around the fact that ur initial investment is returned equally or greater when additional investments are made/required. Yeah people could've bought the season pass with their preorders, but that is not the same thing as buying the complete product... this game has been overhyped and and overpriced period. Just because people play it alot, doesn't mean it's worth the price. That's the equivalent of saying if I play with a yo-yo for 6 months then I should pay an absurd amount for a basic yo-yo. Time played =/= equal value. Content = Value.

  • There will always be people that think a product is not worth its value, conversely there will also be people that think a product is worth its value. It is only your opinion, and maybe others as well, that this game isn't worth the value.

  • Investments also can collapse and never go anywhere, it's the risk you take. Value is never guaranteed. This game was priced the same as every other game out there. Over-hyped is a subjective term, depends on whether you're happy with the experience you've been getting or not. Content does not in any way equal value. What if the content is crap but there's a lot of it? Is that value? Not at all. Value means something different to everyone. Destiny's social experience has given me more value than I could have expected, for example.

  • Lol destiny's social experience? Wtf are you smoking. U must be an employee of sorts incognito saying some shit like that lmao. I'm done. No point in debating with a person with a mentality like that. You're still grabbing on to the investment part. Most were promised more shit then they received, hence a loss on their investments hence the outrage and disappointment. Regardless of the investment shit, this game is extremely lacking for a game that costs 80$. Point blank period. Nothing left to say. You like paying for 80$ for a tiny social experience lol go ahead but don't act like there's no reason to be upset. This is a game and the gaming community os highly competitive. The consumers have a right to be pissed and voice their dissatisfaction when they're so many options available. Nobody is being forced, but their is a certain level of influence/manipulation/ reputation abuse going on. I'm Done debating with u about that though.

  • Ah I see, resort to trash talking now because I've haven't succumbed to your indoctrination. How big of you. However I shall explain myself further. Social experience as in friends, fireteams, raid teams, clans - regular people you align with and share the experience with. That has been a very rewarding experience in Destiny and continues to be. That is MY experience and nothing YOU say will change that ever EVER, point blank period. I have no reason to be upset, I've gotten MY money out of Destiny many times over. I bought the game because I enjoyed the beta and wanted to experience the full game. I didn't expect any particular list of things from Destiny, I never follow the hype train - it just leads to bad places. Consumers, yes it's their right to voice their opinion. There are other options out there too so 6 months later if someone is still desperate to get value out of Destiny or believe that they've been robbed then they're in for some very hard times once real life begins (if it ever does).

I followed the game's development and Bungie stated multiple times they were fighting against a subscription payment model. They also stated the game will grow via dlc and expansions. It's either pay a subscription or buy additional content. That being said, I do disagree with many of Bungie's decisions.

I don't mind a subscription for a game of substantial content and worth. I also wouldn't mind paying for additional content. But my problem comes in when the price is overinflated. Alot of dlc come at a set price, and the price is usually overpriced to match competitors because it's the norm. We're technically paying the price for a damn near whole other game while only getting the content of 1/4 of the game.

  • That's not the point, the point is that people are making a huge deal about the dlc simply because there is no raid. Now they're using it as an excuse to say that the dlc will be utter shit and a waste of money.

A lack of a raid is a lack of content. A -blam!-ing horde mode doesn't replace a raid please understand the difference. Horde modes of all types takes damn near zero effort in design vs a raid. And regardless of that people aren't ONLY complaint about lack of a raid, people have been complaining since release in September about lack of content, story, customization, and just all around things to do. The repetitiveness of Destiny has been the biggest complaint, and the replacement of a raid with a horde mode is like adding insult to injury. I'm not saying horde mode is a bad idea though, but that should've been there day -blam!-ing 1, games from 5 years ago had horde, zombies has been out how long? How many games have a horde mode? Being partnered with Activision it seems extremely unlikely that Bungie wouldn't have enough creativity and common sense to have thought of the idea already. Like I said it's not just about the lack of a raid, it's about the ongoing insult of reduced and stripped content.

  • First of all we don't even know if it's horde mode, so stop assuming things before they reveal it.

You say " first of all" as if u have 2nd and 3rd counter points to make but then you don't make them. I'm pretty confident the term arena refers to a type of horde mode since an "arena" is a closed off confined area(An arena is an enclosed area, often circular or oval‑shaped, that definition is str8 from Google like a pro). That said what would be your counter if in fact the arena is a type of horde mode?

  • Whether or not HOW contains a new horde mode remains to be seen so don't make an assumption just yet is all I'm saying. You and other people act as if horde mode is going to be a bad thing even though you haven't even seen it. I would argue that this whole game is a giant horde mode in a sense, we are killing waves of enemies that span across different planets. Let me ask you this, would you rather them release a raid that contains numerous bugs like TDB? At least observe or give the new mode a try before you dismiss it as being shitty.

  • I never said the horde mode was going to be bad, in fact I said regardless of how good it will be or not it still doesn't replace a raid, which is true as can be. It's not about giving them a chance. A horde mode is sitting in the same area, a raid is not. And yes yes yes this game is sorta like a giant horde mode, but at the same time it wasn't advertised as 1. Hence the outrage. 3rd, I would rather they release the raid as intendwd, no amount of testing will find the flaws as quickly as being played by 100s of thousands and millions of players. Period. Next time they should state they are delaying the release of the raid to further polish it. But they didn't say anything of the sort. They are going down the wrong path of trying to put bandages over wounds instead of preventing the injury in the 1st place. Idk much either way I'm done buying into their hype, om going to be that guy who buys their shit afy we ser months of reviews have backed it up. Keep paying the giving them chance after chance. It's too many games to be comitting all my hope and support to a franchise dev who doesn't even care enough to be direct on what to expect.

  • Very well I will make my other points. Second of all the OP's post is mainly about people overreacting to the new dlc and that is mostly because of no raid. Third of all, you claim that having no raid is a lack of content; not once did bungie claim that they will release HOW with a raid, it was you and other people's assumption that a raid would be released due to datamine leaks. How can there be a lack of content when it was never explicitly stated that there would be a raid. And lastly you searched up one definition of arena. If you bothered if look up the rest of the definition, you would realize that there is more meaning to it then just an enclosed area.

  • They have made claims about there being a new raid, no I don't feel like looking them up, but most were under the impression, and it wasn't because of data mine links. If they had no plans for adding a raid they had plenty of time to dispel rumors, but they didn't because they wanted to profit and capitalize off of the thought. I never said I had any expectations for the dlc, I never intended on buying it don't mistake my interest on the topic. They were vague on purpose to take advantage. They could've been crystal clear on the things to expect. This game s nothing as advertised, in e3 and all the trailers ate all overhyped exaggerated bs. Next my post is directly related to ops so Idk what your "3rd of all" is pointed at, it doesn't counter anything. And your "lastly", lol bro an arena is an arena, it's enclosed. Point blank. Not much is going to happen in an enclosed area except waves.
