Yeah, but there are hundreds of specific factors that contribute to habitability. While there may be some, that number is much smaller.

You're right it's actually closer to 0 than 8 billion
-
So you think we are 100% unique
-
We are. Even if the Universe is teeming with life. Our species is 100% unique. There would be no way (unless we bring multiverses into this) that there are other humans out there.

Edited by Britton: 4/22/2015 5:13:31 AMWell played. But technically we will have something in common with life no matter what. Even if its just that we are made of atoms. So we will never be 100% unique. Close, but not 100%.
-
I'm not sure we're 100% unique but I believe that the estimated number of planets capable of life are often greatly overestimated
-
Do the math bro. That's all I got for ya.
-
Math is easy to do when you aren't the one deciding the factors of habitability.
-
The people who decide the factors do the math too.
-
You interpreted it wrong. I was trying to convey that it is easy to look at numbers when you don't decide the factors. Yes they do do the math.
-
Numbers are numbers. *shrugs*

Edited by WalterWhiteVevo: 4/22/2015 5:14:29 AMDon't worry I've looked into that I just happen to think those equations leave out many important factors such as the importance of a nearby large planet (such as jupiter) to pull away astroids to keep the astroids from killing the life
-
Fair enough.
-
Capable of life doesn't mean has life.
