Why you're sniping all the way up there I don't know, the raised area above where everything spawns is a great spot anyway.
Just watch out for the Hobgoblins that spawn on the second wave and you're golden!!

Haven't tried that but multiple people have recommended so I will have to try it out. I just always used the super obvious cliff Bungie created right when you walk in the door. Never had a reason to try anything else... :)

Only things that really come up there are the Hobgoblins in the cave, and the Harpies on the last wave.
