Mine probably would have been Borderlands 2, but I'm not sure.
EDIT: The Walking Dead is also a possibility.
What about you Septagonians?

Honestly 2012 didn't have very good releases. I would have to say Assassin's Creed 3, and even that is just a decent game.
-
Far Cry 3. Loved the motion cap, characters, and lines in that game along with other stuff.
-
Borderlands 2
-
Skyrim. lol.
-
This game was very ironic: it looked the most generic, but was the most original.
-
Mass Effect 3 was an amazing game. It's in my top 5 all time favourite games.
-
Halo 4.
-
Planetside 2. Pure AWESOMENESS.
-
Mark of the Ninja is pretty -blam!-ing awesome as well.
-
Battlefield 3. I played that game for 626 hours. So worth it!
-
Mass Effect 3
-
Spec Ops: The line or Far Cry 3.
-
Hotline Miami. It was everything a game should be and I absolutely love the creativity. This is one of those games that just makes me nostalgic every time I play it.
-
Halo 4.....
-
Far cry 3 is up there.

Edited by banj0: 1/15/2013 7:00:31 AMSeptagonians? Is that a new term or just one that wasn't on The Flood? OT: The Walking Dead game or Halo 4. Didn't really play much else from last year besides BO: 2 and that isn't nearly as good as the others. Also got into Skyrim which beats all of those, but that came out in 2011.
-
Easily Borderlands 2. Every complaint I had in the first one was almost completely removed from the second one, IMO. Forza Horizon is coming very close though. I just got it last week and all of my gaming time has been going into it since then. A great racing game, and one that I had very few expectations for.

Dishonored.
-
Persona 4 Golden.
-
Either one of the following Halo 4 Borderlands 2 Chivalry or Dishonored

Edited by TheDonWan: 1/15/2013 6:57:56 AMBorderlands 2 was my GOTY. I am a sucker for a good co-op game, and BL2 is just fantastic. I played the shit out of it with friends and even made multiple characters (something I don't normally do). The Walking Dead is my runner-up. Great game, I couldn't stop playing it and I can't wait for more.

Edited by Mythoclast: 1/15/2013 3:00:48 AMIn terms of total playtime/enjoyment? Starcraft 2; I just purchased this year so I'll count it. It's easily the game I've played the most this year. Blizzard are a bunch of geniuses, they managed to design an RTS that has a lean and mean set of mechanics, and units; and the game still manages to be very strategically robust at the same time. Game made this year from a raw design standpoint and I enjoyed it? Dishonored. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and the number of ways you can tackle a mission are limitless. It's refreshing to not have my hand held through a scenic tour of the latest graphics engine, lame realtime events averted. Game I played the most that came out in 2012? DOTA 2, just try it.

The Walking Dead

Spec Ops: The Line. Truly a remarkable game that managed to set itself apart from the sea of shooter games.
