Easy fix for now, use your sniping spots but save one enemy, kill him with your party at the fighting area, then run back as they spawn in. It wont reset as long as your fireteam is there when the wave ends.

you only need to do that 1 time, like I did, 1 time, why the rest of the community doesn't figure it out is beyond me, honestly it's not even a bug, it should just be part of the fight.
