I'm Christian myself (Catholic to be specific) and I believe Genesis was not to be taken literally. I believe God was behind evolution. I mean, how can God create so many animals that look so similar and not expect us to think they're related somehow? If God was not behind evolution and created every single species in the beginning, wouldn't that make dog and a wolf be just as related as a hippo and a grasshopper?

No. (1) Catholics are NOT Christians. (2) Evolution is Atheist fantasy. (3) Evolution in the Bible is a complete and utter blasphemous fallacy.

Christians follow the teachings of Jesus passed down through his disciples. The most important of these disciples was St. Peter who is the founder of the Catholic Church. So, the Catholic Church is the direct continuation of the teachings of Jesus aka they are Christian. Fast forward past a few bad popes and you end up with the Protestant thought which you can categorize many of the modern Christian churches. In other words... BOTH CATHOLICS AND PROTESTANTS ARE CHRISTIAN! To be Christian simply means that you follow the teachings of Christ so any church that does that is technically a Christian church.

Edited by SSG ACM: 4/30/2015 3:06:11 PM(1) The Apostle Peter was not the first Pope nor a proprietor of Catholicism (Matthew 8:14). (2) no one on Earth except Christ, God incarnate, or God can forgive sins, yet the Catholics promote that the Pope and his priests possess this capability. [MORE INFORMATION PENDING]...

1. Matthew 3:8 states bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance. And was talking about Abraham. If you're gonna cite scripture please know what you're talking about the land and the baptism of fire. 2. I agree with you on that but that doesn't make them not Christian. Basically the way Catholics believe is that priests and the pope are like a go between for people to talk to. Most priests do not think that they can exonerate your sins

Sorry, Matthew 8:14. I was thinking of something else. [INFORMATION PENDING]... I'll edit that now.

That ones about Jesus performing miracles and healing

I'm not wishing to try to argue with you but what's your reason that so many animals have similarities to each other but are not the same species?
-
Considering Catholicism came first and Protestantism is a spin off from that?
-
Christianity existed before Catholicism and Protestanism.
-
What? You realise Catholicism is the direct descendant of the religion created by Peter when Christ ascended right? Peter was the first pope. Christianity is just a blanket name for all of the religions that worship Christ (which they shouldn't actually do), not an actual religion

And that's wrong. Officially St. Peter was the first pope. He set down the first stone for the first Catholic Church. As for the priest thing, they do it in the name of Christ. Also Christ was just a human. He never wanted to be worshipped. He said that repeatedly. So technically Judaism is the true religion when discussing the Jewish/Christian God.

False. Catholics are not Protestant Christians, like the racist baptists and stuff. Everything else was fine though ^_^
-
I never said they were. I said they were never and are still not Christians.
-
That's also wrong they just aren't Protestant Christians. They are still Christians though.
-
Why are Catholics called Catholics instead of being called Christians as they were in Acts?

This question has stoked controversy among conservative Christians in recent times, but it has proved to be of little interest to theistic evolutionists (those who accept evolution as God's mechanism in creation) and those rejecting Genesis (Gn) as God's inerrant Word. The debate has been primarily between young- and old earth creationists, who believe that God literally created the various kinds of living things (as opposed to the common descent of Darwinism). Both sides hold that humans have not descended from other species, and both reject the atheism and macroevolutionary theory of neo-Darwinism. The two creationist camps, however, differ in interpreting the creation days of Genesis. If the days were consecutive 24-hour periods, and if the earth was created on the first day, then calculations based on biblical genealogies reveal that the earth was created only thousands of years ago. If the days were either of indeterminate length or nonconsecutive, then the Bible does not reveal when the earth was created. Interestingly, both sides agree that the genealogies reveal that Adam and Eve were specially created only thousands of years ago. Young earth creationists (YCs) interpret the days as 24-hour, consecutive periods for reasons such as the following: (1) The days in Gn 1 are consecutively numbered and comprised of an "evening and morning." (2) Exodus 20:8-11 commands a literal week of six days of work and one day of rest based on God's original creation/rest week. The two weeks would seem, then, to be of equal duration. (3) According to Rm 5:12, "sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin," but old-earth creationism would have animal death entering the world before the sin of Adam and Eve. Old earth creationists (OCs) argue against 24-hour creation days for reasons such as these: (1) The Hebrew word for "day" (yom) is used in different ways in the creation account. For instance, Gn 1:5 refers yom only to daytime (daylight), not nighttime. Also, Gn 2:4, literally translated, speaks of "the yom that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens." (2) God's rest on the seventh "day" has no evening and morning (Gn 2:2-3), and Heb 4:3-11 portrays this same Sabbath as continuing to the present time. (3) Adam could not have named all the birds and animals in 24 hours according to Gn 2. Both sides believe they have strong arguments favoring their interpretation and rebutting the other side. And historically, debate regarding biblical interpretation has often led to a clearer understanding of God's Word. But it is also highly debatable whether this issue merits the rancor and division often attending it. Some YCs accuse OCs of compromising the Bible with evolutionary science. Some OCs charge YCs with undermining biblical credibility by generating a false conflict between science and the Scriptures.

Edited by SSG ACM: 4/30/2015 2:49:11 PMHowever, the credibility of the Bible has pointed out that in all of it's recorded history, plus non-biblical history, amounts to a little less than 10,000 years. Let's assume that the hybrid belief is true. Why would God encourage the earth's progression through a long and self-enduring process only to then make himself known to His creation when He can create anything He desired immediately as He did with Adam and Eve?
-
Because God by his very nature made the universe with rules and logic so it would only make sense for the being that set up those rules to operate in a way that conforms to those rules as a general rule of thumb.
-
So you're saying God is limited to His own creation? Okay. Then what is the origin of God?
-
And god would be non-causal which means he always existed for all eternity
-
I'm not saying he is limited, I'm saying that he runs the universe in a logical way on purpose to allow us to grow
-
Is it not plausible, being God, that He can will what creation to come into existence instantly?
