Partly right, but I want more detail.

[spoiler]Was it because the DMR is used by the Army Corps?[/spoiler] [spoiler]Whereas the Battle Rifle is usually used by the Navy and the Marine Corps. Hence, why we never see a DMR in the OG trilogy.[/spoiler]
