"Better than everyone else" Cop out. Other countries are blamed for the same thing. The hate for the U.S. Is much more than that and is rooted in pure evil. The same kind of evil that would kill their own kin on a genocidal level. Sure, we aren't #1 in every economic and political poll, but we do more than just hold our own. It's an ideal and a perfectly acceptable one at that. An idea that if you truly try your hardest you can achieve anything. Look I am not saying we have our problems, we do. But we are an a rare position to actually do something about it....which you can't say about the majority of countries.
