The idea and the principle it was founded upon are the best way things can be done with a functional economy. But the system is now corrupted and everything is about power and wealth and more power and more wealth. That's the only reason a politician does anything in the end. That's the problem. When things like huge corporations, powerful special interest groups and unions get the ear of the "representative" by stuffing their pockets, whatever good ideals or moral credibility they originally had is done and they're just one more whore for the buying. Gotta fund the agenda sonehow. Still, even in its current state, I'll take our broken capitalism over all the alternatives.
