I think most Americans are far to high on themselves. Being that the entire rocket technology the Americans posses was the brainchild of German scientist who defected to America at the end of wwII in a the paper clip project. It would be more fitting to have the German flag.

  • Of course, Von Braun built upon the work of Americans such as Goddard, but why spoil a perfectly good Anti-American rant with facts?

  • Clearly you've never actually learned anything because it was von Braun that created the Rockettes and it was von Braun the nearly destroyed the Americans with his Rockets until of course he was allowed to come over to the American side the Americans were so far behind in creating rockets it's -blam!-ing pathetic you disgust me with your made up facts

That was one of the best groups ever! They had some smoking hot dames back in the day.....good thing Adolf didn't find out about his double life as a Broadway producer, he might have been sent to the camps!

  • Shh...don't say that. Next thing you'll be reminding them it was Russia who actually beat the Germans in Europe, not the USA.

  • Russia wouldn't able to do it if US didn't help open the Western Front. Americans and the Allies were ready to take Berlin before the Russians, but they halted their advance because they knew the Germans are afraid of the Russians more and Russians want Revenge. Some Germans even ran all the way West side of Berlin to surrender to the Americans than to the Russians.

  • Germans were also of the belief that the Americans were going to help fight against the Russians.

  • The only reason the allies let Russia take Berlin is because they couldn't afford to lose any more men. Russia lost over 100,000 troops taking Berlin, 100,000 the US needed to carry on the fight in the Pacific.

  • What are you talking about? The US already winning the Pacific war not to mention they have a Nuke ready.

  • It is called History my friend. Yes America was winning the war in the Pacific but it still needed troops to ensure that win. Also America used its "nukes" (actually it was an Atomic Bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima and a Plutonium Implosion Bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki) for 2 reasons: 1. To avoid a land invasion of Japan after they failed to agree to the US terms of surrender. The US wanted to strip Japan of ever having another Emperor but they refused, the Bombs were dropped and the Emperor actually stepped in and made the government surrender. 2. As a show of power to Russia, to stop them getting any ideas during the clean up after the war. Russia had already turned on 2 of its initial allies, German and Japan and the US didn't want them doing it a 3rd time.

The other reason they bombed Japan was too end the war early because if Russia stepped in to fight japan the us knew they would be taking a lot of the lands and establish them self in asia more which is not what the US wanted

You just sound like a complete bullshit. The extra troops has nothing to ensure the win in a winning war. Russia promise to fight Japan and The Japanese knew that, They were going to surrender. The Nukes were already an overkill and a sure Victory. In the end, US let Japan keep their Emperor so it's complete pointless. And to Stop the Rusians? Hell no it cost a hatred then led to the Cold War.

Nope. If I were you I would get a bit more educated. 1st thing is to watch the documentary series The World at War, made in the 70's. It features interviews with the politicians, generals and their aids from all sides during WWII. They even have Hitlers secretary talking about when he killed himself. It cuts through all the bullshit and tells what really happened by the people in charge at the time. It will open your eyes my friend, to the bullshit you have been told.

Here's the bullshit that you just went off topic. You still didn't prove how those if up to "100,000" soldiers might ensure the win when US already winning for SURE. Telling me to watch that documentary has little to nothing to answer our argument about the "100,000" extra soldiers. US already pretty much won the Pacific war since the fall of Germany and Japan knew their lost is inevitable. US don't even need a land invasion they just keep bombing all Japanese military bases when Japan's air force already been eliminated. With the pending soviet declaring war on Japan and the Nukes that "100,000" soldiers has nothing to do with it. You could have just say the Allies just want to save lives on their side and let the Russians do all the work for revenge. This argument drag out longer than it suppose to be.

  • Let me see, lots of countries in Europe helped the Americans. I guess you mean the UK? Sure we held our own for along time but when it comes down to it, Russia done so much work. After the Battle of Stalingrad where they wrecked 25% of the whole German war machine they simply swept all before them on the way to Berlin, while the UK and US were struggling across eastern Europe. You know why the US let Russia take Berlin? Because they simply couldn't afford to lose the troops needed to take it. It cost the Russia's over 100,000 men just to take that city, 100,000 the US couldn't lose because of the war in the pacific. Also how many Russians died in WWII? Over 20 million! While I don't agree with the way Russia does things, you have to show them some respect for what they went through compared to any other nation during the conflict in Europe.

I couldn't agree more, however it annoy's me how the UK never gets credit for the roughly 3 years it held the western front by it's self, while may I add supplying Russia with tanks and other military supplies. But, yes it could not have been won without Russia.

  • As a US citizen and former serviceman I have nothing but respect for England's deeds during WWII. Winston Churchill remains one of the greatest leaders of all time. His speech "Never has so few done so much for so many" has to be the greatest orations of the modern age.

  • I know some people do manage to respect the amount the UK did, and likewise I have nothing but respect for the US & USSR war dead. This was aimed at those who act like the UK did absolutely nothing. But thank you I guess.
