Let me see, lots of countries in Europe helped the Americans. I guess you mean the UK? Sure we held our own for along time but when it comes down to it, Russia done so much work. After the Battle of Stalingrad where they wrecked 25% of the whole German war machine they simply swept all before them on the way to Berlin, while the UK and US were struggling across eastern Europe. You know why the US let Russia take Berlin? Because they simply couldn't afford to lose the troops needed to take it. It cost the Russia's over 100,000 men just to take that city, 100,000 the US couldn't lose because of the war in the pacific.
Also how many Russians died in WWII? Over 20 million! While I don't agree with the way Russia does things, you have to show them some respect for what they went through compared to any other nation during the conflict in Europe.

As a US citizen and former serviceman I have nothing but respect for England's deeds during WWII. Winston Churchill remains one of the greatest leaders of all time. His speech "Never has so few done so much for so many" has to be the greatest orations of the modern age.

I know some people do manage to respect the amount the UK did, and likewise I have nothing but respect for the US & USSR war dead. This was aimed at those who act like the UK did absolutely nothing. But thank you I guess.

Just wanted to point out that not all of us are the idiots 90% of the forumites make us appear to be.

True, but some of you aren't idiots.

If it weren't for the UK, we might not have had a war to begin with.....Munich, anyone?

Edited by Wioti: 4/28/2015 7:00:43 AMIt was started when you know who marched into Belgium. Thats when the allies got involved in the war.

Adolf didn't invade Belgium until 1940.....the war began in 1939.

*cough cough* Us Commonwealth folk helped you along old chap. I believe it was one of my New Zealand "cuzzies" that led your resistance in the Battle of Britain.

Anzac!!

The UK ensured a war was even still available for the Americans to come late too. Britain was

Yeah.....if you hadn't let Hitler overrun half of Europe without firing a shot, we wouldn't have had to step in and save you.

No wonderThe world hates America you're so -blam!-ing arrogant favorite

Your historical "knowledge" is nearly as impressive as your grammar.....not.

I'd rather have bad grammar and know the truth. Say what you like as many deluded Americans do. Think what you like about your supposed superiority. The rest of the world knows the truth.

Oh yes,I know how much we did on our own and yeah we helped the Russians with Matilda and Churchill tanks etc and I completely agree that many forget how long we held out, trying to keep Europe free.
