Sick of how players are treated by others

I'm 32 on all my characters. I play fairly often and run raids over and over each week. I swordbear, beast at crucible and enjoy doing so. Pretty standard back story. What I don't enjoy is how many people on this game aren't willing to put in the time to teach new comers/lower levels what to do or help them out. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO RAIDS. Countless times I've dropped down into the Abyss with a full team only to hear the lower levels being told to sit and wait while others run it. Or getting to Crota only to realize that 29 doesn't have a maxed out tracking rocket and making them stay inside as if they still won't contribute to taking him down. NO. I hate that bullshit. Especially if it's your first time running it and you're still learning. You get up and you come with me otherwise HOW ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO LEARN AND GET BETTER FFS. This is the whole problem with this community. Too many arrogant people wanting to lead and take control over everyone else and not enough realising they aren't better simply because they have a Gjallarhorn or are 32. They won't ever learn if nobody wants to teach them or help them out and show them how to play. Hell, my clan has spent hours doing Atheon teaching newbies how to run it and what to do. Oh no we wiped over and over and they made mistakes and it took two hours just to kill Atheon. Pfffft who cares. Guaranteed we all had fun and enjoyed ourselves. Not quite sure what I'm trying to get at here but I'm just over how people get treated simply because for whatever reason they aren't the best player on the team. I hate it. Just wanting to know if anybody agreed and if you had stories to share about the kind of bs you've had to deal with whilst playing this game :)

  • Holy hell im so glad someone else made a post about this problem before i did! Thank you sir i couldnt agree more! All the high level Guardians want to complete it fast with no errors whilst never teaching the younglings and those who just dont do that stuff (i.e. me :3) and its just stupid. If they dont know how to do something, TEACH THEM DONT BE A DOUCHE.

That's why I joined my clan we teach you to teach other that's our motto. We dislike the 32+ with G.horn posts because the raids are easy once everyone know what to do. We only ask for mic and have the ability to listen and learn. OP ppl like you make this community a good place.

    • I do run across way too many cocky, disruptive players. Some don't seem to be happy unless they're pissing someone off. It's almost impossible sometimes to be matched with 2 players in strikes that play as a team. They run ahead, hop on their sparrows and try to screw with others. Last night, while doing the Nexus, someone tried to push me off of the top while aiming down the sights. I have 3 32s and over 100 raids under my belt so I'm not a "noob" to be teased. And I won't let someone try to spoil my experience just because they weren't taught manners and respect for others. I never mind who I do a raid with as long as they are taking it seriously, willing to stick with it and are respectful. I have Gjallarhorn but, in my opinion, if you need one to "win" a raid then you need to work on your skill. I just got my first one about a month ago and have completed a lot since September without it.

    • Not everyone is bad out there its taken me a while but i found one good dide that knew another dude that knew another dude and poof! Just like that i got a decent group of guys that dont wuss out once they get a checkpoint or something and dont mind a few -blam!-ups or teaching someone to use relic or sword i met my first raid friend through doing patrol missions on venus. But i do like the fact you shed light on this subject. It is a game at the end of the day and the point is to have fun with it.

    • It does suck. I'm a new player and have had main help from my boyfriend which is nice, but it'd be better if I can just hop on by myself and join a group willing to help me learn the raids and such. I did my first Vault of Glass last night due to him and his friend wanting to help get me some better armor since I was now high enough in level. But needless to say there was the one person in the group who told everyone it'd be best if I stayed dead and let them run it. It was rough. Made the experience really sucky and really bummed me out thinking I may just be bad at the game in general? I dunno'. I play on the 360 but also have it for the PS4, though no one to play it with on there which is why I have a 26 on Xbox and two characters under 10 on the PS4. Anyway... I agree. It makes me a sad panda. But I'm sure I'll find a good group of people eventually, so thanks for the rant. It's people like you that make me smile and know that not everyone in the gaming community is horrible.

      • It's because they're mostly cocky teenagers who think they're bad ass for having good RNG, I just got into destiny and have been lucky to meet some cool people who have shown me how to run VoG and TDB All in all I think it's just a maturity thing.

      • Personal opinion, if the community was comprised of more players like yourself, it'd be a much more enjoyable experience, for everyone, just saying....good post

        • It really is so frustrating. I agree 100%. People must forget what it must have been like to do it that first week, when it was actually fun to beat the raid because you figured it out on your own.

        • Troof! I'm having the same problem in my clan! A couple arrogant know it alls are spoiling all the fun and turning the raids into a chore. I have been playing since beta, I know how to Destiny, please don't tell me that you know how to enjoy my game better than I do. Anyway, I'm looking for a new group.

        • I honestly really feel bad for those who cant play raids or never done them. I once sucked at raids and especially in crota holding the sword. I was really scared when i was holding the sword because i would think people would get mad at me. But really they were patient until i learned how to use it. Now im really good at it with all my characters and i teach others how to use the sword . Anyway my point is that i help noobs in raids even if it takes long. Im on ps4 and tomorrow is the reset so if you guys want you can add me for nightfalls/weeklies/raids etc (ps4 btw) add me if interested Psn:VELOSITYHD

        • Bump this! Well said if your on Ps4 add me. We can run some raids and help others. We've all been noobs before. No reason to talk down to people like their children or make them sit out. I'll join you in this cause. Any one on Ps4 who wants to raid add me. Noob or not. Let's just kill stuff.

I frequently run into noobs(no offense intended) and while everyone else usually want to kick them. I'm usually the only one who wants to teach and help them through it

Hi, I see your point and let me tell you it's sad but true! I mean our Clan also help newcommer and we teach them! And it all depends on the person who lead! I've done Crota countless times with some newbies and it was fun every single time! But some people in our Clan are way better than me at Destiny and they aren't able to lead a Fireteam! They say that they haven't the patience to do it and that's ok for the rest! What I would like to point out is that some skillful Player aren't able to teach others and it seem to me that you hardly ever find a good player who can lead a fireteam of newbies! Don't judge them please and keep on helping! Stay nice and keep enjoing helping people as much as I do!

Message me ps3 to learn how to do everything like a day-one player. I literally get spammed with friend requests because I stand out. S/O to clans "Virgo" "Pure Skills" "Uncritable" Edit: I will NOT "CARRY" and I also teach "Swordbearing"

Just took 3 newbs through the vault today. A lvl 26, 30, & a 32 (I know right). Finished it with a moderate amount of wipes, they picked it up really quickly then the 26 (a squeeker for real) gets TLW for Atheon kill and almost squeals us to death until I said "hey bro, I know you're excited but chill". If I'm honest it was actually fun and funny all in one game.

          • Well said and a brilliant post. I'm only lvl 29 and haven't even done VoG yet. I been on raids with lower ranks than me and the only thing I've noticed, which bugs me, is their unwillingness to join in for fear of being killed. So they stand back and let the others clear the area. Either way, I need help too and I found that many just leave the Fireteam because it appears we won't do it.

            • Good post. I've got three 32s and Max weapons on each character. I've been in raid groups before that mock and boot lower level players; it's not cool. I normally add the lower level players to my friends list and teach them the raid mechanics. I wish more people would help lower level players. It's crazy that Bungie said only 20% of players have even attempted a raid, and even less have beaten a raid... Just imagine if everyone knew how to beat the raids - we would always find good raid teams.
