I'm probably just beating a bloody pulp of what used to be a dead horse, but I just need to tell someone about the nine hour VoG hade raid I finished tonight.
We (myself and two other guys) started the raid at 2:30pm EST we opened the vault after a fourth person joined and proceeded inside to the confluxes where we tried to get more of our friends into the game, life happened and saw two of them leaving, but another person joined and the three of us basically sat for seven hours at the confluxes trying to get complete it, we didn't. Seven hours, four third player swap-outs and a minor bout of worry later and a full fire-team beat the Templar.
We progressed onward with no more difficulty, one member of our team had to depart and so we faced the Gatekeepers with five. Still no problems, even had a sixth man join just in time to collect the rewards for the checkpoint.
Finished Atheon with but a single wipe and one death at 11:30. And so a nine hour raid, the longest one I have ever played, came to an end... I just wish this game that I enjoy playing knew how to reward the time I had invested into it.
The final tally of rewards for myself?
Found Verdict number four (Templar) [I used this shotgun during the battle with it]
Timebreaker number six (Atheon) [it was equipped on my character during the entire raid]
Ascendant Shards (x25) (Everything else) [a material most players have large stockpiles of]
Nine hours of play, and the people that joined in the last two? Two of them got Mythoclast (both previously acquired multiple copies).
I don't understand it... I simply do not understand how nine hours of playing nets me nothing but a story of shoulder charging my friend into a bottomless pit as people came and went.
Bungie, as someone who enjoyed this raid up until the very last second, someone who ran headlong into a pointless battle just for the fun of it, someone who was smiling as Atheon crumbled into ash, I need to tell you that your "reward" system is severely broken.
There are people who have done much more than me and walked away with much less, it's a sobering thought that the time they put into the game wasn't even considered in the end. This system of truly randomized rewards needs to be rethought and redone, perhaps even removed. Nobody should go through a game, having fun for most of it, and then just turn off their console and sit in silence because, in the end, their investment wasn't valued.
Some people will come here to call me an entitled brat because I put this up where they could see it, honestly, I would have preferred to e-mailed this little bit of feedback to you, but I couldn't locate where I would send it. Maybe I am acting like an entitled child, maybe I don't deserve to feel that this game rewards my time, but a night like this should never be allowed to happen.
I honestly hope you find a way to fix this game.
EDIT: instead of addressing the main point most of you have come in here to insult me, way to make a guy feel welcome for being honest. I have never been so disappointed to be part of a "community" as I am now. It's disgusting.

If it took you 9 hours to complete you don't deserve anything good
