I basically just scrolled down until I found the word bible or God, so I could just dismiss the thread real fast.

Here lies the problem with our society
-
Whats that? Someone having a different opinion?
-
Yes, I do have a different opinion than you, great observation.
-
Yeah, not what I meant. Horrible observation. Gotta love irony.
-
I know that you were trying to say that I'm hostile towards the fact that you have a different opinion. I was just trying to show that you yourself are being hostile to someone with a different opinion, by dismissing their points just because someone includes a deity
-
One of a doze deities that has came and gone over the years. It's irritating watching something like religion hold people back. So excuse me if I dismiss the nonsensical ramblings. This isn't a church.
-
What has religion held back? More specifically Christianity?
-
How would you know it is nonsensical rambling if you didn't read it?
-
Because it based off religion.

Edited by SSG ACM: 5/1/2015 9:56:21 PMWhat makes Christianity differ?
-
Nothing. It's the same as every other religion. It has came. And now it's fading.
-
Here lies the problem with our society
I completely disagree
-
I'm just saying that not reading someone's points, and jumping to conclusions is a problem with our society

Atheist are logical. (not because being atheist makes you logical but logical people tend to be atheist) Considering faith is illogical technically its not even necessary to read the bible to question the religion. God is a claim supported by the Bible which are just more claims not evidence. A belief in something doesn't make it real so there is technically not much to consider from the other side. However many atheist like to read it because they wanted to know what their questioning in more detail, come from a religious background, etc
Considering faith is illogical technically its not even necessary to read the bible to question the religion.
How can you combat one's Faith without reading the Bible? Completely illogical. I guarantee you if you want to convince an "acclaimed" believer become silent and fret, use the Bible's contents.
-
How can you combat one's Faith without reading the Bible?
None of its claims are proven to be true. There is nothing to combat. If you can't accept proven facts no one cares. Live your life however you want. Ignorance is bliss.
Completely illogical.
Your entire religion, yes.
I guarantee you if you want to convince an "acclaimed" believer become silent and fret, use the Bible's contents.
It doesn't matter how atheist do anything some of you cannot listen to reason or logic, it wouldn't matter if science proved God didn't exist most of you would probably still be in denial.
-
Faith by definition is believing something exist without any proof.
Let me guess, Mark Twain?
-
No, just the definition of faith
-
Except, people like N7 Virtue, would never see a logical argument for a God, because they would skip over their points just because the writer included God. They would never see the evidence, even if it was presented to them.
-
If 1 of any of the thousands of religions were true based on evidence it wouldn't be a religion. It would just be part of our understanding of the universe.
-
So you are implying Christianity has no evidence?
-
Beyond the bible having some historical settings and figures? Yes. None of the divine or supernatural claims in the bible have evidence.
-
Except, people like N7 Virtue, would never see a logical argument for a God, because they would skip over their points just because the writer included God. They would never see the evidence, even if it was presented to them.
If there was actual scientific evidence thats something no one would dismiss despite what you think, but the fact of the matter is there is no scientific proof so there doesn't currently exist a logical argument for one.
-
Then how do you explain people like me who are logical almost to the point of being robotic, who are educated, I'm an engineer, and still believe in a power higher than us?

Edited by Britton: 4/30/2015 4:13:31 PMSo youre agnostic because we cannot know for sure, so you leave the possibility open right? Nothing wrong with that.
