A New Regime Chapter 07, Part 2

The two Guardians reappeared inside one of the nearby office buildings, Tempest's clothesline smashing the Exo into the flooded ground beneath them. He glided away from the fallen Hunter, landing in a battle stance, right foot back, arms guarding his face. Yamishtin exploded to his feet in a splash of water, and made a mighty leap into the air. He tucked his body, rolling end over end, pulling out and lashing a kick at the Warlock's head. Tempest raised his arms just in time as the kick connected, a hollow metallic thud ringing out across the room. Yamishtin dropped backwards and landed in a handstand, twisting his hips in order to land a hit against Tempest's ribs. The Warlock grunted, taking the blow in order to land a mighty kick against the Hunter's chest, sending him flying backwards as he made another splash into the water. The Warlock took aim with Thorn and fired three shots. Yamishtin straigtened out his body and log-rolled to the side as the handcannon's bullets struck the water next to him. As he stood, his cloak tightened around his neck. When he looked back, he saw that the bullets of the Thorn had pinned his cloak to the ground. Yamishtin made a tortured sob, ripped the cloak from his neck, and watched it flutter sadly to the ground. "You bastard!!" he blubbered. "You ripped my CLOAK!!!" Yamistin drew two long, serrated knives from the sheaths at his side, and bull rushed the Warlock. He threw the first knife, aiming it straight for Tempest's head. He whipped his head out of the way at the last moment as the knife whizzed past the side of his face, clattering into the wall behind him. The Hunter came up in front of him, preparing to stab Tempest. Thrusting out his left hand, he blocked the knife and watched it sink up to the hilt in his palm. Using the opening, Tempest swung a wild punch at Yamishtin. The Hunter ducked under it, and grabbed his elbow. Pivoting around in the opposite direction, he pulled the Warlock's arm over his shoulder, flipped him over his back, and planted him face first onto the floor. Yamishtin stomped on and kept his boot firmly in the center of Tempest's back, keeping him in place. He raised his outstretched hand to the ceiling, and activated his Golden Gun, golden ribbons of light curling around his body as he admired yet another working fraction of the Traveler's sublime power. Yamishtin viewed his opponent, helpless on the ground. He had no choice. The Hunter could only hope that Geyser would still accept the Warlock in pieces. He took aim, and placed his finger on the trigger. .…………………………………………. Jadis stood calmly in the center of the gathering storm, her expression set to a manner of only mild interest as six Goblins materialized out of the corners of time and space. Before they could lock on to her, she strafed her Mythoclast, sending gouts of fire across the bodies of the first two Goblins, vaporizing them instantly. She heard the whirring of machinery, and leaped backwards as the Goblins' slap rifles came to life. She dodged the blasts of solar energy, the only damage apparent were the singes on her cloak. She landed behind them and slammed the butt of her gun repeatedly into one of the Goblin's heads, crushing it's haunting red eye and its primary central processor. The rest of the Vex took aim and fired again, but she Blinked backward, barely avoiding the energy blasts. It was then she could see another dark cloud beginning to form behind the Goblins. While continuing to evade the incoming fire, she dropped the Mythoclast and drew her handcannon, the Hawkmoon, the white finish gleaming in the light of the Venusian afternoon. She fired four rounds, and four thunderous claps, like howling lions, followed forth from the gun's muzzle. Each bullet hit a single Vex square in its power core, and the ancient machines fell apart at the seams in a shower of pure white light. The second dark cloud coalesced into full form, and from it dropped two Goblins, two Hobgoblins, and a Minotaur. Jadis fired her handcannon, once at each Hobgoblin. They crouched to protect their bellies, and orange stasis fields wrapped around them as they became frozen in time. She rushed the oncoming group of Vex, landing a shot from Hawkmoon and a throwing knife into the power cores of the Goblins. As she leaped over the still frozen Hobgoblins she primed a grenade and dropped it between them. As the machines returned to life, it detonated into two bolts of lightning that tore through their bodies and shredded them into scraps of blackened metal. The Minotaur had been waiting patiently this entire time, and as the Hunter leaped towards it, it used it's free hand to grab Jadis straight out of the air. She wriggled like a fish, trying to escape the Minotaur's grip, but it was rock solid. She fired four more shots from her handcannon into the Minotaur's face, but the bullets merely bounced off its shield. The robot activated the Torch Hammer in its other hand, and Jadis could only watch as it raised the glowing weapon up towards her, ready to melt a hole through her body. She only wished the Minotaur had enough time to process the smirk on her face as she summoned her Arc Blade. The Bladedancer's knife sliced through the Minotaur's elbows, and as she dropped back to the ground the Torch Hammer fell beside her, leaking black smoke and a sparkling orange fluid. The Minotaur let out a shrill metallic whine as it stumbled away, it's amputated limbs sparking. Jadis Blinked forward, reappearing in a slide as her blade sliced through the robot's knees. The Minotaur roared as it fell helplessly to the ground and the Hunter began to mercilessly tear out its innards with her Arc Blade. Jadis stood up from the Minotaur's carcass, breathing hard as the rest of her built up Arc energy flowed out of her body. She gasped, and fell to her knees as she was plagued by a terrible wracking cough, blood spattering the grass underfoot. She looked up warily, and her eyes widened as a third cloud began to appear, this one larger than all the rest, and was sure to be the death of her. From it's depths appeared three Axis Minotaurs, Torch Hammers blazing, and flanking them was a single...Axis Hydra. "I hate this planet," rasped Jadis Here is the link to the rest of my stories if you need to catch up. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/116093772/0/0 Continue on to Part 3 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/128373671/0/0
