A Japanese University, Kyushu University, has admitted their medical institution was appointed to dissect American POW's while they were alive, to see if they could survive various experiments related to removing parts of the liver and brain. They were also injected with seawater to see if that could be survived. All died. Apparently there were trials and books written on the topic, but this is the first time an institution has admitted to these wartime atrocities.
The article also suggests that: "a group of medics known as Unit 731 carried out thousands of experiments on Chinese and Russian prisoners of war.

It's a good thing we nuked them. If we didn't they would have kept going to war. Shit they might have been involved in Vietnam. Maybe they would have started other wars. Or they could have been a part of the cold war. Imperial Japan was crazy.
