I like the bastard sword. Not as quick as a longsword but it's a beast one you get the moveset down. I like the heide knight sword as well for when I need the faster attacks.

That happened to me too. Mines up to +8 now though and is still a very viable weapon. I plan on infusing it first chance I get.
