To all those 'thorn is not OP' posts.
You guys always say its not the gun, but its the player's fault. I disagree. This gun can put the best crucible player to the ground with 2 headshots. This gun IS overpowered and you thorners just don't want it nerfed.
If you want to flame me for not being good in crucible, go ahead. Idc, my skill is higher than yours anyway. I still have to see an flamer with a higher kd here...
Edit: all these scrubs flaming don't want their thorn nerfed.... ;)
Edit: most of you guys could only whine about 'lucky' headshots, so i changed that.
Yet another Edit: i'm not saying that the thorn owns me, i outgun them 80% of the time. But that doesn't take away the fact that its too powerful. A simple stability or range nerf should suffice.

These are hand cannons, not hand pistols suros got hit already now it's a pea shooter you want more useless weapons? Having them nerf more weapons won't fix pvp it will make it worse what's so hard to understand about that. Once you nerf one weapon other weapons will reign supreme, give autos a buff and the problem is solved. I haven't used thorn in iron banner but this next time I will I'm accurate beyond belief with hand cannons and can't wait to put the butt hurt on people who decide running out from cover and running around is a better strategy then using simple strategy and common sense. If you can't out gun a weapon it doesn't mean it's the weapon you're going against it has to do with how you play or what you aren't doing to stay alive. If I know someone is coming up with the thorn I won't stand toe to toe that's stupid cause I know I'm gonna die if they are accurate and if I don't play smart. This is a strategy based pvp not a run and gun stlye shooter like cod is. No more nerfs.

3 RepliesBased on my mediocre crucible skills I think the "OP" guns are actually the Vex, Red Death, TLW, Thorn. I honestly don't think thorn is any more powered than those others. I use them all and the match ups between them usually come down to player skill. I agree this set is more "OP" (a.k.a. the only weapons I really do decently with outside of MIDA) but I wouldn't single one out above the rest.

This way, it is unlikely to two shot, however will always kill with 2 headshots and 1 body shot. This nerf will put it in place with other exotic HCs but above legendary. 2 RepliesHand cannons in general need to have a range between autos and pulse. Currently, they match scout in range. If you get up close with someone with thorn, yeah, you should die to 2 head shots.

Nope. This is NOT the only hand cannon that can two shot. And it certainly doesn't have anywhere near the fastest ttk it's just super annoying to be killed by. It's not overpowered, just overused.

1 ReplyI got shot with thorn probably 10 times in one match, only got killed 2 times by it though. I suck at crucible too. Yes it's powerful but it's a hand cannon, what ones arent? What do you want 3 head shot kills? I think it's fine and just nerf autos back up slightly.

I really have to explain this again, don't I? Thorn behaves exactly the way it's supposed to, and I use hawkmoon. The DoT damage is EASILY negated, and as long as you can out match the person using thorn, presumably with a gun that fires faster, or a something to put off the DoT for a second, like SUROS, which, for some reason, is making a mavalous return. This isn't a matter of it being game breaking or incredibly OP, it's just a matter of finding ways to out match it, and remembering the fact that the people using thorn probably aren't that good. If, IF, there's another nerf/buff, it needs to be across the board. Making auto rifles top of the game again Is just redundant, and makes no sense. Evening out the TTK across the board would be great, but then people complain about destiny being like CoD or Battlefield.

New thorn user here.... Although I have played pretty well using the thorn...I've been put down just as quick by a vex, red death, NITC, gelwinters, TLW, badger, MIDA, corrective measure, jolders, up for anything, coiled hiss, TFWPKY 1969, bad juju and whatever else is in the mix. I decided to eventually max my thorn after hating it and I've grown to love it. You can't say the gun is overpowered because bar the DOT, you can be 86'd pretty damn quick if you miss a shot. Yes it's powerful, but the player makes it.

Look at the Vex(compared to September Vex) the original Pocket Infinity, and every exotic auto rifle right now. You're telling me we need to break two more exotics and possibly break another entire weapon class because of the poor design of PvP? I'm sorry but I can't agree :/

1 ReplyThe problem is thorn is both not OP and very OP at the same time. Hand cannons in general need a range nerf, but if thorn was used anywhere between shotgun-fusion-auto range I'd say it would be pretty balanced, however you can use it well beyond those ranges, which is what makes it OP. The best thing to do would be to hit hand cannons with a general range nerf, and then remove send it from thorn in exchange for something else like skip rounds.

(Tied with TLW) I have one and sometimes it's just easier/quicker to just do 3 body shots and let the poison kill them than going for a headshot. I love it but at the same time I almost feel obligated to use it in IB if I want my team to win. But I would agree it is a bit OP'd, it's the fastest firing AND only DoT weapon in the game?! And has good range too.
