Yep adding those labels is similar to trying to make marathon races different than 40 yard dashes by saying one is a micro race and the other is a macro race. Using the God to explain the unknown is actually pretty common, it's called "The God of the caps". God becomes a replacement for saying I don't know.

    (1) Correction: Isn't a marathon considered a lot of 40 yard dashes? (2) Since God, by definition, is eternal, He has no beginning and end (e.g., try counting from 1 to the last number on a number line). Being that the universe needs a cause in order to exist, God is the only logical choice (I even have an explanation why just one). Since He is the creator of time, He is not limited by the time dimension He created; and thus, He has no beginning in time, and the Bible concurs that God is the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity (Isaiah 57:15); therefore, He doesn't have a cause, and that is also why it is stated in Revelation 22:13 that He is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

  • Well I disagree, I don't find the hypothesis that God created the universe to be valid or justified. There is no evidence that a God even exists so that must be done first before he can be used as an answer for anything. There are countless definitions of God, even in Christianity. There are also thousands of other Gods that others have worshipped, each with an explanation of how the earth was created. So your God isn't special or unique, I'll give an example to help you see why I think the Christian story is ridiculous: This is the old Chinese story of creation. The first living being was P’an Ku, who grew for 18,000 years inside a cosmic egg. When he hatched, the shell above him became the sky while the piece below became the earth. The opposites in nature were separated as well—male and female, wet and dry, light and dark, yin and yang, etc. I would assume that you agree that this story is ridulous and to believe it would be crazy. Well that is precisely how I see the biblical creation story. I see it as a failed attempt by ignorant bronze aged farmers to try and explain how the earth was created.

  • There is also no evolutionary theories as to the origin of organic life, complexity, and intelligence.

  • No, I have no idea what "nothing" is, so I can't attempt to explain what can or cannot come from it. My position on the creation of the universe is I don't know. I have heard claims about what may have happened but I have yet to hear one that is compelling. Under your belief, God somehow doesn't need an explanation or a cause, and he created everything out of nothing right?
