Love and hate aren't really emotions, they're basically just amplified versions of "like or dislike," that summarize our reaction to things in general, which may be incredibly moderate to the point that they can scarcely be called emotional. For example I love spicy food, but I'm not emotional about it, I just enjoy spicy food.

  • Okay I totally understand that theory of love. However "love" can represent a variety of different feelings from attractions, to emotions, to affection, etc etc. while yes you love spicy food the question was what emotion is the most destructive. "Love's" emotional feelings can be very destructive given the right (or wrong) situation in my opinion

  • I get what you're saying, but I reckon "love" is not really a catalyst for causing destruction. A racist who hates one race of people may love killing them, that is to say, takes pleasure in causing their suffering. Usually the emotions behind that are not as simple as love for causing suffering or hatred of those who are the victims of that suffering. The emotions behind it are usually anger, pain, or fear or all three. I can't think of one example where love was the catalyst of destruction without some kind of anger, fear or emotional pain having been the catalyst.
