If he flaps his wings, keep going, if he rears up on his haunches, run towards the paw and swing again. Keep an eye on your stamina and don't get greedy. Rinse and repeat. I used this strat and I beat him the second or third time I tried it. Which was only about the fifth time I had ever squared off against him. You can do it.
