They did not believe the Earth was flat though, that's a common misconception, Dante Allighierri (hope I spelled that right) wrote the Divine Comedy, in Paradiso the planets were not flat, he was a follower of the Church,
I'm not sure about geocentrism though, you may be right about the Church believing the earth was the center of the Galaxy, but they never condemned Galileo a heretic for saying the Earth was not the center of the universe
