*THE SLOT DOES NOT GIVE YOU EXOTICS ALL THE TIME ITS STILL AS RANDOM AS BEFORE!*
So I was playing Destiny, grinding for engrams & I thought of a fun way to turn in rewards for loot.
So think of a droid robot at the tower who is a slot machine. He rewards you with armor, guns, packs of materials, ships, shaders, faction items, packs of consumables etc etc.
Now how this loot system would work is that you would get rewards in Strikes, Iron Banner, Raids and random drops off enemies called "Slot Tickets".
Those tickets can be a rarity from uncommon up to exotic. The rarity of the ticket the better chance you have of getting amazing loot from the machine. But let me explain a bit more about these tickets.
Each ticket you get can be one, two or three at a time granting you one, two or three rolls. Kind of like getting spinmetal & it drops two. These tickets do not grant you the actual rarity of the ticket. You could randomly get a rare ticket which you could roll & drop a MIDA Multi-tool, but the chances are just like the cryptarch only a bit more satisfying & fun. Or you could get an exotic ticket & roll an unlucky rare but that would be very hard to roll a rare from exotic but possible due to the random spinning of the three wheels on the mini game type vendor. The slot vendor could also grant you limited edition items from holidays or from getting a ticket in Iron Banner and rolling for a Jolder's Hammer. Now let me try to tell you how the mini game could work.
You walk up and open the menu for the vendor. He says his lines like all vendors & all you see is a cool futuristic style slot machine mini game. With the ticket insert & the pull wheel. The controls would be at the bottom of the screen to help noobies figure out how to play. And there are three wheels. When you roll, the wheels are spinning & you can stop at any moment or the timer will tick down & stop for you. Lets just say the timer is 5 - 10 seconds. Lets say you got one rare slot ticket. You stop the wheels turning to see your winnings. Both left & middle wheels are 2,500 glimmer & the right wheel stops on an exotic engram. You get the 2,500 glimmer. Now if you stopped on all three of the same you get that item. So I'll make you guys excited. You get an exotic ticket at the end rewards from doing a random ROC Strike. Your heart starts pounding because you can wait to cash it in. You go to the tower or wherever & you walk up to the slot machine vendor. You insert your exotic ticket & pull the wheel. You wait seven seconds and stop. The wheels immediately stops. You see that you have just almost won yourself a Ghorn. The left & right stopped on Plug One Fusion Rifle & the middle had a Ghorn. I know this would piss all of you off. But what you don't know is that this is way more exciting then little old cryptarch. You just clearly saw you just about got Ghorn. With the cryptarch you just click & get what "he" rolls for you which isn't very fun. But yeah that's my idea guys!
Please take this with a grain of salt. I just was thinking & thought of this idea.
Let me know what you think! Leave a comment of if your shy just answer the poll up top.
And if your friends with Bungie make sure to send this to them email style haha.
Think of it this way, getting 30 blue engrams and only getting three legendary. When you can randomly roll for any type of item with all rarity involved. Better then the cryptarch in my opinion..

Tldr...

I like trains.

Destiny IS a slot machine
-
Taking this post with a grain of salt. And a slice of lemon. And a bottle of tequila. The whole bottle. Because that's how much I'd need to think this was a good idea.
-
I think this is a great idea not sure why a lot of other people are hating you for it.
-
There's already too much shit in this game.
-
Sounds like the crypt arch
-
Sounds like borderlands 2 <.<
-
No exotics please... We don't need scrubs getting ghorn

Edited by TheMasterDB8er: 5/7/2015 3:53:35 PMI like the slot machine idea, but no armor or weapons. We have xur, and the other vendors for equipment, but if the machine rewarded glimmer, upgrade materials, shaders, ships, sparrows, and emblems only, then i would be completely on board with the idea.

I like it, but it would never be implemented. It would be too much coding (although, it honestly doesn't sound like more than a $1 DLC, kind of like the BL2 DLC for the holidays) for Bungie to want to work on it. Even if they did, it would only be implemented in a money making way for them. I do like the idea though. Maybe a higher chance of getting a legendary the more rare tickets you put in and so forth. Fan made stuff is great, but very rarely ever done... Sorry man.

Yo! I heard you like to gamble in destiny! So I added more ways to gamble in destiny so you can gamble more in destiny while you gamble in destiny!
-
No it should be Broman Screaming cursed thrall as you walk past him.
-
Its not the process that keeps me going, it's the thought, "If I kill more and perform well, then I might get better rewards.". So killing these enemies over and over doesn't bother a true guardian. -An Excerpt From Loot Cave Lore
-
Why don't you just buy your exotics from xur like everybody else?
-
thats like infinity blade rolls
-
Does not fit into the story of the world at all.
-
We are already getting the reef

Edited by SalineVampire: 5/7/2015 3:46:14 PMI said something similar to this awhile ago. I like the idea, but not the way the tokens are given out. IMHO they need to be given to the top performers in Raid, Strikes, Crucible matches and so on. As is now top performers do not get anything special for being the best in a Strike, Raid or Crucible match. This would be a way to allow them to get extra rolls on gear and weapons. I think exotics should be off the table as a straight up reward on the slot machine. It should be that you have to win three exotic tokens from the machine and once you have three then you can do a random roll at an exotic.

Easy exotics = no thanks.
-
Hey look another borderlands rip off idea....
-
I like your idea, but let me ammend it just a bit. Let's say, instead of having a slot machine that basically hands you exotics, we just have these different ways of earning a chance at an exotic once a week. One example could be, like, in the Raids, there could be two different areas in which you have a good chance at getting an exotic, and maybe, a strike once a week where there's another really good chance at an exotic. That way, guys that just got the game and only have one character, for example, aren't just farming blue engrams to trade them in for easy loot. idk, I'm just spit-balling here.
-
I would love this
-
Kinda like cases in csgo. Could work
-
I don't like this idea.

You shouldn't be able to get exotics that easy
