Recently I watched some Prison of Elders gameplay and saw the new Fallen relic: the Scorch Cannon. I found it interesting to see a Rocket Launcher like weapon being used in third person since Bungie is known for doing FPS games. So this got me wondering: How would you guys like the idea if Bungie added a third person camera option in the future? Personally, I would love the idea.

I believe there should be a thirdperson patrol mode seperate from 1st person as well as a Crucible 3rd person gametype. So it would balance the two variations of play.
-
I would love a permanent 3rd person option. If people believe an optional 3rd person mode would break or unbalance the game, I am sure 3rd person would come with its disadvantages in pvp. I already carry scorch cannons around in patrol just so I can explore in 3rd person. Only a matter of time before bungie impliments it.
-
I would VERY much like to play in third person all the time.

Dude, perhaps the best think about destiny is the smoothness of the shooting mechanics. And now you're wanting to take that view away from us just so you can see your glowhoo on your voidfang? Just dumb.
-
I'm sorry I've already said this, but I feel it should be reiterated. This is why I don't believe it would be a good idea, even as an option. 3rd person players would have an advantage over 1st person players simply based on screen view-ability. 3rd person has a much wider peripheral vision (obviously) and you can see what's happening behind you without turning around. So there are clear gameplay advantages when talking about 3rd person gaming. In an online multiplayer game, the way you play the game affects everyone playing with you. Gameplay must be equal and fair. You can like it or hate it; that's just the way it needs to be. So no they would, could, and should not give a third person option.
-
UPDATE 1.5: Now that House of Wolves has been released, I intend to test out the capabilities of third person action in Destiny with the scorch cannon. Because of this, I will be testing mostly maneuverability and field of vision. Please, stay tuned. :)
-
It would be amazing. Bungie will never put it in the game.
-
It's wierd they don't have the option..The coding is already there. When u use the sword or relic is 3rd person.
-
People saying this would be a huge advantage over people using fist person view seem to forget MW2 did this and nobody complained. Why? Because they restricted it to certain game types and everybody played in 3rd person. You guys never think really hard on how this will be implemented. You think if this feature is added, it will be some sort of toggle inside a PvP match.
-
Pick up the sword or relic there's your third person.
-
Bump. If you make different modes for pvp so it wont get mixed together
-
Edited by Yoguh: 5/11/2015 4:25:43 AMThird person view sucks sometimes.. I always get confused when I pick up relic in Atheon stage.. Feels dizzying to me..
-
Edited by Juliet Stormcrow: 5/11/2015 3:10:23 AMI wanted a Third Person View option from the start!!! ONE OF THE BEST IDEA I'VE EVER HEARD SO FAR!!!! -Until Next Time, Guardian! <3 Edit: Bungie better listen to you!
-
NOOOOOOOOOOO! I Love first person! Destiny is best RPG MMO FPS!
-
Nah man. It wouldn't be worth the time or effort in my opinion. Look at Fallout 3 for instance, it had both views available and yet I never used third person.
-
This would be awesome
-
I feel like Destiny should've been a third person game from the start.
-
Part of a FPS is not being able to see what's behind you. Third person view would change the game completely. If you've tried playing GTA 5 in first person after playing for months in 3rd person, then you know what I'm talking about. First person GTA is harder in almost every way.
-
It looks weird. 3rd person shoots like Gears of War have advanced strafing abilities. This game has nothing.
-
As long as you can't use it in pvp.....try to keep that from being any less equal. Enough hate from that side of the game as it is.
