That's not how it works. Evolution is about adapting to environmental changes through natural selection. Creatures suited for a particular environment will survive and pass their genes on while creatures unsuited die. As environments change, so do the creatures by necessity. If they can't adapt, they go extinct. If the environmental change is drastic, they'll evolve in more drastic and divergent ways , and over millions of years that become a new species.
