Why do you defend the N64?
Before we get into this let's just get it clear I'm not talking shit to N64 players I own one myself but I use it as a cup holder lol okay I was just wondering why people (mostly fanboys) defend the N64 with their lives. N64 was clearly a fail and the Dreamcast outsold it buy millions and yet these people still claim that N64 is the best and blah blah blah. I mean everyone knows the N64 sucked, I remeber I bought one game for it and the people at gamestop were like "why are you spending money on a system that's crap" I just really want to know what's up with that. The N64 looks like a console that would have been created in the 80s but yet it's somehow better than the Dreamcast lol you fanboys amaze with how you bring up games like Mario in it's defense, what a joke.

I too wish the dreamcast succeeded, but like how Sony Beta was better than VHS, it failed for many reasons mostly surrounding market development and accessibility both in price and use. I see no reason to hate the N64 tho....It was good for it's day, and still is one of the most accessible platforms you can find. You want to play a game with a girl that doesn't know Metal Gear from Mario? Break out the N64 and you're good so long as you don't slaughter her in the game. You got 4 friends and everyone is split between the next gen consoles? Pop in super smash 64 and you're good. Also, the reason it's better than dreamcast isn't graphics, it's capability. The N64 was the pioneer of the 64 bit system, something that took PCs a LONG time to catch up to. It had a lot more processing capacity because it could utilize around double the normal data stream as everything else in it's time. This means larger map chunks, more detail in the images, everything. The rendering wasn't better, hence the graphics not reflecting this immense upgrade, but it allowed for games like goldeneye and it's larger maps (for the time) and AI to work a lot more seamlessly. While you ignorantly label the game as just another shooter, you're also giving it credit for the niche that it created. Goldeneye WAS the shooter that brought fps pvp to the forefront of gaming, and while the devs should have gone on further than the time splitter series (an underappreciated series, imo) its no small claim they have. As far as the 'Nintendfags' comment....Grow up. Mindless hate is best left to the remnants of neanderthals within the human race. You have no right to make such comments unless you've been a life member of the KKK, ISIS or one of the other many groups that incite hate for personal gain, to which I unfortunately must add the current First Lady. (look up the Tuskegee University speech she gave and you'll wonder how someone in such a position would be allowed to incite such racial hate when people are celebrating the hope in their future.)

2 RepliesMaybe because the games that ended up coming out for the n64 are still remembered to this day? I can not name a single dream cast, Or Sega Saturn game as I've never heard of any. I'd assume sonic. But that's only because it's Sega. I can name a few Psone games but that is because I grew up with it. Though I was limited to crash bandicoot, and spyro. All the other Psone games I didn't hear about Til way way later. So yes. I heard more about zelda ocarina of time, banjo kazooie, golden eye, Mario 64, Starfox 64, and many other games way way before I ever found out about final fantasy 7, castlevania SOTN, tomb raider, metal gear. And remember I grew up with a Psone. Not a N64.
