Very new to APIs, have a lot of questions

I feel bad asking for help because I love to learn things on my own, I just can't seem to figure out where to even begin here. Sadly I have very little experience in Java, Python, or any form of C. I have an understanding of html and css due to a few friends of the past teaching me some things, yet never did too much work on my own. Anyway, my point is I found a reason to learn all this stuff: a simple love for a game and a want to create a website for my friends or their friends to use. My use for the api is to create a database for all the gear and perks. Like Planet Destiny or DestinyDB has, I don't want to copy anyone or anything, just want to create an all in one place of information you know? Also maybe in time add a psn/xbox login area for people to view their grimoire scores/progress, player stats, and other "basic" information. Is it possible to create a section that shows the daily, weekly, and nightfall with rewards/modifiers without writing it manually each day? My main goal is to provide a space in which people can search up Hawkmoon and it will display the weapon picture (easy to get) and a layout of the perks with a description overlay on each when hovered upon, like in the game. Is this too big of a task to imp lament into a website? What languages must I become experienced in to create these things? Jeez, most basic question is where do I even begin? Sorry if this is too much to ask and/or if I seem too inexperienced to even ask these types of questions, just want a bit of a push in the right direction and maybe some help here and there if I just can't get it. I just feel incomplete in my project without sections like this in it. (just to eliminate someone saying this: I do have my api key, I got that far haha) Edit: forgot to add the question of public events too. How would I go about getting public events from worlds (earth, mars, etc), xur, and vendor inventory listed?

 • PHP is probably the most forgiving language (although I don't think that's much of a good thing in the long run) for web development, so like Phrozen mentioned, I recommend starting there - here's a tutorial to get you set up. If you also want to try out a full LAMP or WAMP stack, you might be interested in running it entirely in a Virtual Machine so you don't destroy your host OS too.
