[I can't be atheist for one reason:] retracted
[Edited: I find it hard to dismiss the idea that the existence we experience from birth to death is all there is. Maybe 'atheist' isn't the word for people who are certain that there is no higher order of consciesness beyond what we are capable of presently.]
I sincerely hope there is some infinite being that can sense and appreciate the beauty in the vastness of both the Mariana Trench and the Virgo Cluster.
Our universe is 13.8 billion years old and there are parts of it that are so far away, the light from some regions haven't even had enough time to reach us yet. There's a storm on Jupiter that is waaayyyyyy bigger than the size of our planet as a whole.
Can you fathom it?
I literally can't even.
We may be but one of an infinite number of universes in existence, even though we literally can't even detect all of the one we inhabit.
I sincerely hope that there is someone or something out there that can sense and appreciate the vastness of existence. I mean, we try, but our human sensibilities are incapable of truly comprehending the WTF-ness that is existence. I'd be pretty dissapointed if there was no one/thing that could. It doesn't have to be a creator/arbiter but I reeeealy hope that someone/thing can sense the immensity of all that is.

Edited by Olomonachos: 5/18/2015 1:27:19 PMThe universe is very amazing and it keeps me wondering what else could be out there, I do believe there definitely is some other form of life out there. There is no way we could be the only one's here, even though we probably won't ever see the entire universe, it's still pretty cool to observe what we can see. If you think about the vastness and endlessness of the universe, billions and billions of stars and planets, it gets kind of scary, but it's so beautiful haha
