DONE with this "treasure key" BS!
Like many of you, I spent countless hours this weekend grinding the "wolves" events in search of treasure keys. It was fun for about the first hour or two... but after that it was irritating beyond belief.
I found 2 keys and 2 legendary engrams.... and a shit ton of blue engrams.
I can't believe they actually thought this would be a good idea or fun for us players. HoW isn't even out yet and I'm already feeling completely let down. The mindless idiocy of running back and forth between 2 spots on a map... fighting the same fight over and over and opening chest after disappointing chest.... is this a sign of what the rest of the DLC is going to be like?
I'm sure many of you will disagree with me and that's likely because these forums are filled with a lot of people who will be fans of the game no matter how much it goes to shit.
Anyway... If I'm doing a patrol bounty and stumble across a wolf event, I'll stop and do it... but beyond that... I'm DONE with that tedious grind!

I think it's kind of fun. Racing to the chest and then racing to get same chest again and watching everybody else zoom past in their sparrows. Looks like a futuristic highway.

I've been grinding for keys for three days... no keys... no Legendary Engrams :( I've got more blue crap and Special Ammo Synthesis than I can handle... gonna play PvP tomorrow and hope for a HoW weapon drop (they are dropping now).

I did them but didn't farm - just enjoyed having some other players around for a change instead of going solo for most public events... Kind of like when the game first came out - hoping the active population stays up a while

Must say I enjoyed it tbh. 5 keys 3 legendary engrams. Ex wow player so I loves the grind!

I refuse to mindlessly grind these events. they are fun and if I stumble across them k will do that but I won't spend hours doing it. What I find funny is the desire to get so many keys, you still are going to have to do the whole poe to get to the end to use the key. Do you really want to do it 20 times a week just to try and get loot? And to top it off the armor/weapon core is only good once and this item is locked per week, meaning it doesn't change. So what's the big point to it? Maybe I am just misinformed and if I am I apologize for spouting incorrect information but it seems like a waste of time to me.

I grinded (ground?) for over 18 hours total and got zero keys. Char full, postmaster full, vault full, glimmer maxed, spirit bloom and spin metal up the ass, enough special ammo Syn to get 10 Invectives. I was crunching rare engrams and buying heavy ammo syn at points. Just not happy I didn't get just one. I hope HOW is better than this, I can't take much more. BTW - to top it off, I lost two legendary engrams because my post master was so full it pushed them out of the lost items.

Where you went wrong was grinding for more than an hour or two. Don't stress about this kind of stuff. Who cares if others have 1937361828366393627 keys and you have 2 ....who cares. They will just end up bored quicker. Relax and play the game. You will not be denied anything because of keys or lack there of.

Dude do you realize these keys open chests at the bottom of Prison of Elders right? There will be multiple chests and you'll need them. End game though? Not really. Just because we have keys doesn't mean we will be getting threw the prison so easy and if you waste the keys on the lower leveled prisons you won't have so many keys. I highly doubt Etheric Light is going to drop as often as people think. Doesn't seem like people are going to be level 34 tomorrow at all unless they get a super lucky drop on the prisons and nightfall.

Found 9 keys so far and 4 engrams, the grind is tiring but grinding with my friends makes it fun enough for me. Hope you find more keys on your patrols and hopefully the dlc will be a pleasant surprise to you (:

What's funny about your post is that the last part is exactly how the events were supposed to be experienced. Random, while completing bounties. Once the novelty wears off, that's how most of us will do it. But the beauty of Destiny is that it's a game that can be played however the player chooses. Do what you find enjoyable and move on.

People saying "Bungie didn't intend for people to grind this for hours", where are you getting this information from, is there a post by Bungie stating this?
