Like many of you, I spent countless hours this weekend grinding the "wolves" events in search of treasure keys. It was fun for about the first hour or two... but after that it was irritating beyond belief.
I found 2 keys and 2 legendary engrams.... and a shit ton of blue engrams.
I can't believe they actually thought this would be a good idea or fun for us players. HoW isn't even out yet and I'm already feeling completely let down. The mindless idiocy of running back and forth between 2 spots on a map... fighting the same fight over and over and opening chest after disappointing chest.... is this a sign of what the rest of the DLC is going to be like?
I'm sure many of you will disagree with me and that's likely because these forums are filled with a lot of people who will be fans of the game no matter how much it goes to shit.
Anyway... If I'm doing a patrol bounty and stumble across a wolf event, I'll stop and do it... but beyond that... I'm DONE with that tedious grind!
Anyway... If I'm doing a patrol bounty and stumble across a wolf event, I'll stop and do it... but beyond that... I'm DONE with that tedious grind!
That ' s how it should work. Farming is ok only in these days pre-DLC also for Bungie to test the loot.

Well then don't do it, you don't have to get keys of you want to be lazy
-
I agree with you man. Very infuriating, I opened at least 60 chests and got no keys whatsoever. I just don't care anymore XD
-
Just imagine how many hours the losers with 20 keys put in......
-
There's no real reason to do the events other than getting Queens Wrath rep / exp. The chests were a bonus for when you'd finished them. Farming endless chests is guaranteed to be as dull as hell, especially if you'd forgotten the lessons of RNG.
-
I'm pretty sure Bungie didn't intend for people to farm these non-stop for hours. Why? Because its not fun, as you discovered. I did enough to complete my bounties and a couple extra by helping friends and stumbling across them while doing other things. Still managed to get one key. One of the things I learned about Destiny a long time ago was to not get caught up in grinding/farming activities. I never spent much time at the loot cave and had no interest in doing these Wolves public events for hours on end. That's a great way to burn yourself out on the game.

1 key 1 legendary helmet engram. Skywatch was crazy with enemy skirmish while wolf event was going. Patroling with 6 people on Venus was tons of fun. Going to roll crytarch a few times with all those engrams.
-
It passed a bit of time..But you weren't expecting anything great and non-repetitive were you. After all, it's Destiny.
-
The keys aren't supposed to be easy to get there just optional, so that you can do HoW PoE a couple more times, its just for a way to get more keys without having to wait till next week, since you can only do it once with every character
-
18 runs, zero keys. Couple of legendary engrams and a shiteload of blues. I'll keep at it, rng is a fickle bitch
-
Edited by mecha_mike: 5/19/2015 1:43:29 PM0 keys and 0 ledgendary.. but I must say I feel pretty done to with that part.. RNG hates me.. im day 0 player and also have 0 Gjallarhonrs
-
looking for a team to grind keys. send message on xbox one. XBL00DFR3AKX
-
I don't think they were meant to be grinded.. They're like public events. I used to grind those too until I realized how pointless that was..
-
Nice! I friended for a total of 0 hours and look at how hyped I am. Well, you can't physically see me but I haven't made a rage post bitching about something yet sooo... I think that shows hype in a way... Right?
-
I grinded alot of the HoW chests and ended up with only one key and no legendary engrams. Stop your whining....
-
It's fun, especially if you go to vault of glass with a full fire team and just scoot on over to the wolves instead. This is just a small portion of the dlc. More entertaining of a farm than the exclusion zone.
-
Only 2 keys and 3 legendary engrams.... and about 150 blues. Ya, got annoying fast but my friends made it entertaining enough to bare.
-
You didn't have to grind....wahhh
-
Got 0 keys and a vault full of blues. Was still fun.
-
It was something different. Nice to compete with friends who can get the most/best. I lost on legendarys but won on keys :)
-
I have 12 keys and 14 legendary engrams
-
Maybe this type of game doesn't fit your style? The grind is part of its charm. Bungie has already taken away a lot of the grind that existed when the game first released. Those damn material exchanges! Lol.
-
Hmm I got 16 keys and 20 legendary engrams. You have to flip the chest over and rub its belly to get the good stuff.
-
It's a game, not a job. You don't HAVE to grind if you don't want to. I've got 0 keys and don't give a -blam!- about it. I'll will get one eventually. RNG doesn't owe you crap.
-
i think its awesome

Edited by Vox Mortuis: 5/19/2015 1:35:05 PMHey, at least its fun to do with randoms, and actually gives you something, unlike those blades of crota.
