DONE with this "treasure key" BS!
Like many of you, I spent countless hours this weekend grinding the "wolves" events in search of treasure keys. It was fun for about the first hour or two... but after that it was irritating beyond belief.
I found 2 keys and 2 legendary engrams.... and a shit ton of blue engrams.
I can't believe they actually thought this would be a good idea or fun for us players. HoW isn't even out yet and I'm already feeling completely let down. The mindless idiocy of running back and forth between 2 spots on a map... fighting the same fight over and over and opening chest after disappointing chest.... is this a sign of what the rest of the DLC is going to be like?
I'm sure many of you will disagree with me and that's likely because these forums are filled with a lot of people who will be fans of the game no matter how much it goes to shit.
Anyway... If I'm doing a patrol bounty and stumble across a wolf event, I'll stop and do it... but beyond that... I'm DONE with that tedious grind!

I see threads all the time stating "800 hours, no GHorn!!" or "3 days farming, only 2 keys!" Well, if your time is spent inefficiently, you deserve to not have all of the things. I'm not saying this is you, you may be a crazy efficient farmer, but I have 14 keys and 13 legendary engrams. Not because I no-lifed the hell out of my weekend, but because when I farm, I'll do it for a couple hours at a time, and in that time I get minimum 3 chests per 90s window. I've had as high as 6 (with the chest that spawns next to the little doorway there in Skywatch) Same is true of exotic drops in this game. So many people complain, as I said, about RNG not being fair. I look at a lot of peoples' play time and see a low amount of raid completions by comparison. So if you're spending all your time doing non-exotic content, that's your problem. It's not the RNG system that's failing you. I have a fair bit of play time, which is comparable to most of you, but most of that time is spent in the crucible or doing exotic content. Look at how many Crota / Atheon completions I have. And that doesn't even include the times I've done just one or two bosses without running the whole raid (like Templar for a Fatebringer). I make a point to play the RNG system, and as a result I have been rewarded. I'm efficient. Anyone else who is efficient will never complain either, because we all get pretty much everything we want. I say "pretty much" because I still don't have a Hawkmoon. But I don't really care. I just keep playing knowing that there's something else out there for me to chase. It keeps me wanting to be efficient every week with the time I do have to play.

Also, most of the Internet is loving the Queens stuff we've been doing for the past week. So clearly bungie wasn't the only ones who thought it would be a good idea, or fun.

It made patrols a lot more fun and less of a chore. Plus there were so many people every where I went, fighting together, reviving. I enjoyed myself while on patrol for the first time in a long time. My favorite occurrence was on Skywatch when the event starts in the left corner at the same time that the WarSat drops right next to it. Or the the fallen and hive come out for the full scale battle.

1 ReplyI enjoyed it, sure just waiting for the event would be boring but I was far more comfortable. I was kicked back watching Netflix on my laptop, eating chips and guac and washing em down with Margaritas. It was the most relaxed I've been in months

Everyone needs to take a step back and ask themselves why they decided to spend the weekend farming for keys and then blame Bungie for it. They never told you farming keys was the focal point of the game from here on out and if you didn't have fun doing it, why in the world would you continue doing so? This is on you bro. You made the decision to spend 10 plus hours doing something you didn't like knowingly you were going to come here and whine about it

5 RepliesDid someone hold a gun to your head? lol Patrol was actually filled with guardian life for the first time in i dont know... MONTHS. The game is a grind, no question about it but i met some new people I'll actually game with again (not just add to the friends list and never play with them again.) I'm sorry a pre-HoW event let you down but I had fun.

Anyone who grinds like crazy will get tired of it. I'm a Destiny fan, but I turn my Xbox One off and take breaks from it and do other things. If you feel burnt out you should do other things for awhile. Lol I think I've opened maybe only 30 or 35 chests over the weekend and obtained only 2 Legendaries and a single key. I have to say I'm satisfied with it. House of Wolves will last longer if you pace your play. :D

The funny thing is is that nobody ever said that you had to do that, you just followed everybody else like a lemming. They put key drops as a bonus. They didn't say that you need to sit there for hours on patrol and there are going to be other ways to get keys. The casuals players will get enough keys by just doing the end game content and the hardcore players can farm for more if they want.

I disagree with you, but that doesn't make me an unconditional fan. You don't have to farm. It will be a while until comet. And I'm sure there are other ways to get keys soon. If you're boring yourself to death by farming, then stop. It's not very complicated.

Thanks for sharing, don't care. Bungie make you farm, they didn't even ask you to. You made the choice so if you're tired of it, it's your own fault, so deal with it and stop whining like a little girl :) I "farmed"out an entire characters inventory and half a vault worth and ended up with one key, 2 legendaries (both boots...bungie must want my guardians to have new shoes), and that's mostly just from completing the bounties on 2/3 guardians with the occasional extra chest when it was in the right spot. Still have one more guardian to go...

I was feeling a little down because I haven't gotten a single key for the entire weekend, I check in my vault and I had 3, much happiness soon followed. So now I have 3 keys, 3 stacks each of planetary materials, Max Glimmer, and a sh*t ton of blues. Yeah, I'm content :)
