Just made it to Aava the Kings Pet for the first time. Got wrecked. Only had time for 1 try. Hopefully there's some strategy I missed on the first go, because I got maybe two hits in before I was dead. These dlc bosses don't -blam!- around. Much harder than the base game.

Roll into him, not sideways or back.

Just remember that his paw swipes have a bit of delay at the beginning, so don't panic roll. Other than that, Aava is pretty weak to fire and isn't too challenging. Just learn the patterns and you should be good.

I was stuck on him for hours. I tried all sorts of tactics and finally realized that you have to go Bloodborne on him. I respeced and threw a bunch of points into ADP (I had been using 88 agl), went back and got him once I found a weapon I was comfortable with. My Demon's Greathammer was the one that finally worked, as it has a 360 sweep after a roll, so I was pretty much guaranteed a hit at each opening. It was 5 am and my eyes were throbbing, so I still had a fair amount of slop in the fight, but I stayed calm and lucked out a few times. Sometimes when he uses his homing soulmass-like spell, he immediately lunges afterwords. That got me a few times.

Stay near the back of him poke poke poke roll from attacks repeat

Roll boy roll! I tried tanking and didn't work well... Went Mage with fast roll and much better... Didn't get any hits.... But after fighting a later boss(no spoil) I say stay under the belly the whole time

Hahaha indeed, if you just got into that area the first time and fought him it was bound to happen. You have to go through the entire area and get a item that allows you to see Elva without being invisible first. Then just gotta dodge those paws, they be lethal.

Nah I had already gotten the thing that turns it visible, but it still completely wrecked me.
