DI - Trials of Osiris *needs to be updated*

*** MASSIVE REWRITE IN PROGRESS *** Not everything in this is correct as it is based on the reveal prior to HoW launching. I will try to get it fully updated by tomarrow morning lo everyone. My name is SorrowSong and I am a proud member of DOD Beyond (ps3 clan). In this episode of Destiny Informational I will be covering what I have been able to discover about the new PvP weekly event Trials of Osiris. Before I get into that however there is some new developments which affect normal Crucible PvP in the House of Wolves expansion. First off: In a recent interview BUNGiE's Crucible Design Lead confirmed the following: --- The 3 Dark Below maps will be made available to all players when House of Wolves launches for free. --- Reputation, Experience and Marks are doubled in regular Crucible. --- Players who rank 1st have better chances of rewards then the other players. --- Vastly increased drop rates of Rare (blue) items. 12 more Legendarys added to the pot of possible rewards. --- Etheric Light is a random reward in Trials of Osiris and maybe, MAYBE normal Crucible. It depends on vague wording in the interview. --- You will get 1 Etheric Light for hitting Rank 3 and Rank 5 in Iron Banner. So 2 Etheric Light possible per character per Iron Banner --- Etheric Light is a "supplemental" drop from Nightfalls. I believe that means that instead of being in the normal loot table you will have the usual shot at an exotic and either a guaranteed or random chance to receive an Etheric Light in addition to your normal drop. --- Xur will no longer offer Exotic Upgrades. He will still sell Exotic weapons and armor, as well as Exotic Shards. --- Any progress you have on a weapon or armor when you Ascend it is retained. You do NOT need to be at max prior to Ascending it. You do not gain experience or unlock additional nodes by Ascending it prior to max. Introduction Trials of Osiris is a new game mode which starts at 10am Pacific time on Friday and ends at the weekly reset, 2am Pacific on Tuesday. This offers a new 3 verses 3 game mode called Elimination which at least initially will be exclusive to Trials. In order to gain admittance to the Trials of Osiris you need a Trials Passage. You obtain your first Trials Passage via the House of Wolves quest line. Additional Passages can be purchased for 100 glimmer from Brother in the Reef social area. This Passage is both Passport and Scorecard. On a single coin you can rack up a maximum of 3 losses and 9 wins. Once you hit 9 wins or 3 losses your Passage becomes null and void, you need to go back to the Reef and pick up another Passage. There is no matchmaking involved. You can only bring a pre-made fireteam into Trials. Also you cannot spawn into a Trials match in progress. If you go into a match with only 2 players, you will have 2 players throughout the entire match. Quitting a match counts as a loss. Your opponent team will not be the same from one match to another. Also your opponent team will be chosen by Latency, not True Skill which is the match criteria used in normal Crucible play. There will only be a single map used in any given week in Trials. This map will change each Friday. The first map will be Burning Shrine, although new HoW maps will be used. Elimination Game Mode Elimination is a new game mode which is composed of rounds. You win a round by successfully killing every member of the opposing team. A team wins a match by winning 5 rounds, which means there is a maximum of 9 possible rounds in any given match (5-4 score). Should there be no winner at the 2 minute mark into a round then the round goes into Overtime. A capture point immediately spawns and the first team to capture that point or kill every surviving member of the opposing team wins the round. There is an Alpha and a Bravo spawn point as is usual for that map. Once assigned a spawn point your team will spawn there for each round in the match. Spawn points are not flipped between matches in Trials. Once a team has killed all of the members of the opposing team a 3 second timer pops up before ending the round. A Sunsinger can revive during this time. In the Trials your Radar works as normal, and all other parts of your HUD act as normal. There is an addition however. On the left side of your screen there are 2 bars which track the number of players currently dead on your team and on the opposing team. There are no Respawns in Trials, only player Revives. There is a 5 second timer before a player can be revived after his 1st death. Each additional death increases this timer by 5 seconds. Special Ammo spawns beginning in the 3rd round played. It follows the usual Crucible spawn timer following that. Special Ammo carries over between rounds as does Super Energy. I do not believe any ammo bricks on the ground carry over between matches. Heavy Ammo only spawns once, and that is when one team has won 3 matches. The earliest Heavy ammo can spawn is in the 4th round into the match. You have a 15 second warning before Heavy Ammo spawns. *Warning!* Heavy ammo does NOT repeat NOT carry over to the next round. Use it in that round or lose it. You can use a consumable item bought from Brother to have your first win count as 2 wins, forgive your first loss loss or start with 1 win on your Passage. You can purchase all of these and have them all active on a single Passage. They cost 3 Passage Coins each which are a guaranteed reward from the Daily PvP event from the director, or as a random reward from normal Crucible play. The 2 and 3 win reward packages also have a chance for Passage Coins. Rewards: Your Trials Passage is also a form of currency. Once you have accrued a certain number of wins on your Passage you are able to purchase rewards from Brother at the Reef. Think of Wins on a single Passage as a kind of reputation level. You can buy any item at your Passage level or below. So at 5 wins you can buy the 5 win rewards, and the 2 win rewards. Your highest number of Wins is saved for that week, so if you have 3 coins at 2 wins, 3 wins and 6 wins, for the week you will be able to buy items at 6 Wins and below. Remember. This is Wins on a SINGLE Trials Passage. My initial thoughts were incorrect; you do not need 9 Wins total to buy everything. You need 9 Wins on a single Passage to buy everything. There are 2 sets of armor available in the Trials, one at 36 light which is capable of being Ascended to 42 light, and the other which starts at 42 light. The 42 light set is the Egyptian themed set which is featured on BUNGiE's webpage. There is also full line of Trials weapons available. Both sets are available as drops from Trials matches, although the 42 Light set is only available as a drop to the winning team. Brother offers the following items for Wins on a single Passage 2 Wins - Stone random reward package (Passage Coins, Motes of Light, etc.) 3 Wins - Bronze random reward package (Passage Coins, Motes of Light, etc.) 5 Wins - Armor Piece available for that week. 6 Wins - Silver random reward package (no idea what this is yet) 7 Wins - Weapon available for that week 9 Wins - No idea what this is yet Trials weapons are not able to be reforged. I am not sure if the perks on Trials armor are static or if they are rolled when the item is dropped. That is all I have at this time. I will keep this post updated as I get more information.
