There's a glitch where you don't get the Exotic emblem if your emblem inventory is full. It doesn't even go to the Postmaster. Bungie will probably fix this issue in the future, but I don't know if you'll have to run Trials again to get the emblem even if they patch it. I made sure to delete some old emblems beforehand so I could get the Exotic one.
