This is true, though design wise they would improve the gun. Longer barrels mean more velocity and more spin on the round. While the glimmer based ammo allows for a universal clip for all classes of weapons regardless of calibre. Not to mention more flexible weapon designs. Though clearly the viability of these things are suspect.
