Well the Thorn fires "bullets" that are larger then the gun itself, so I'm thinking... as long as it looks cool. It's all space magic.

  • The thorns are actually small and compacted bullets. Once they leave the gun and fly out they expand. You can see this in action by slowing down the firing animation with YouTube to the lowest possible. All you will see is a small cylinder expand into the actual thorn

    I think the hammer is only "igniting" some space glimmer or whatnot, which then magically transforms the Thorns inner creatures into a Thorn bullets upon exiting the barrel. So where the hammer sits in relation to the cylinder is probably not that important. [Edit] you should probably read that sentence with a Yoda voice. If one bullet is larger than the actual gun, how could it fit nine of those.
