Here's the thing, I've seen comments where people say that they are practically pro at this game, and then they follow up by saying the character that they main with and I think to myself: 'Almost nobody does well with that character at all...' So maybe it's possible to be a legend with Bowser, or Mewtwo, or Pichu, but at the pro level I sincerely doubt most people can pull that off. So basically, I'm wondering how many of you know how far melee can actually be taken? Have you ever watched M2K, Armada, Mango, Hax, etc. (just to name some of the pros) play the game? Do you know the advanced techniques? What some people can do with this game is amazing!
The point of this isn't to talk people down, I'm just curious how many people know about the real competitive side of smash. If you really like the game, but you don't know about the really high level of play, you're missing out.
Also, I'll straight up admit that I'm not a good competitive player. On a casual level I'm good, but I have a lot of refining to do.

Considering I may not even be the best in the group of guys that I play with... not that good. I'm a Yoshi player and I win some games but it's like you say, I'd no sooner confuse myself with a pro in SSB than in Halo. I think the fact that most guys just play with a few dozen people throughout their SSB careers at most may confuse them about what it's like to be truly great at the game. At least Halo disabuses you of the idea you're awesome by running into guys who thrash you on XBL.
