Getting it on Saturday and what are good beginner tips. (areas and items wise, not mechanics and play style) IDC about spoilers.

Go for a strength build if you want to -blam!- shit up, rolling and shields are the best, get the Drangliec shield asap and yeah
-
So I should prioritize killing The Pursuer first? Or can I explore a lot?
-
Explore first, killing the pursuer leads to a new area, you use the eagle thing for travel, after you kill the pursuer drop down through the ruined side to get the Drangliec set and sword and shield, best heavy armour in the early-mid game, shield is excellent, as is sword, all together it weighs a ton tho
-
Pursuer isn't difficult. Beat him my third try I think. Used a +2 or +3 bastard sword.
-
I was amazed at how easy it was the second character, my first time I had to use the ballistae, plus it took me a crazy amount of tries. This time I got it on the first try without any loss of health.

Try fighting two at once on NG+(NG++?), believe me it's not very fun.
-
Wait.. two fuqin pursuers at the same time?!
-
Edited by Harbinger: 5/30/2015 6:29:07 AMYes, they spawn in the throne room of Drangleic Castle. I can't remember if it's on NG+ or NG++. Edit: It's NG+.
-
Only NG+?! Goodbye.

Use magic to learn the areas and game, then on 2nd playthrough try melee. Or just balls in and melee everything but prepare for 150 hour sink of learning mob attack patterns and ranges. Then theres pvp.
-
Magic puts the game on easy mode.
-
Thats the whole point. I myself prefer hardcore and I enjoy melee far more than a magic user. I simply suggested it from a learning perspective. That way on 2nd or "melee" playthrough you know the mob types.
-
Yeah I just feel that choosing a magic build for your first play through is kind of like losing your virginity to your cousin. Yah, you got laid. But you -blam!-ed your cousin.
-
Yah but i actualky want to blam my cousin
-
Thanks

You will hate it at first, wait a little and you'll love it. Also I think it's most fun to go in blind.
