  • Personally, I am against gay marriage. But I also say they might as well do as they please before the suffer for eternity in Hell. I just keep my my mouth shut about it. As for eating pork, those are Mosaic Laws given to the Jews before the coming of Jesus. We are not under Mosaic Laws, we are bound by the New Covenant, by God's grace. That might be hard to understand, it is even for me. Another question I could personally ask my preacher.

  • Christians are against gay marriage because God is against it, as the Bible tells.

Being against someone or something does not mean you hate that someone/thing. For example, Obama was against Romney in the 2012 election. That does not mean Obama hate him. Likewise, when the Bible talks about God being against homosexuality, that doesn't mean he hates homosexuals. Nowhere in my claim did I say God/Jesus hated gays, so you have no reason to argue against it. You copied my post, so you should know I said no such thing.

  • Christian people do many things that the Old Testament declared to be sinful. Why is this alone so important?

Also, homosexuals will not be saved (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

  • Nothing, as far as I know. But the Old Testament says not to.

Oh, you are referring to Leviticus 11. Those were the rules instructed by God written by Moses to the Hebrews (now modern day Israelites or Israelis). They were instructed to not eat specific animals because of the animal's daily diet; thus, it was unhealthy or unclean. For the sake of spreading the gospel not only to Israel but also to the Gentiles (anyone who isn't a descendant of Abraham). Read Acts 10 for an exhibition, starting at verse 14 if you wish (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+10&version=NASB).

  • How it was explained to me was the Israelites were daft and stubborn and needed very strict rules so that they wouldn't do anything stupid. Pork back then was "impure" because it was generally worm ridden because they didn't have good food handling techniques compares to today. The Bible says that the old covenant, the rules set for the Israelites, no longer applies to us and we have a new covenant that Jesus made for us.

It wasn't because the Hebrews were stupid. It was because they didn't have the knowledge or the means to eat every animal without getting sick. It was the same purpose as to why they couldn't eat catfish. The Reason: They're scavengers.

  • So you are recognizing the fact that it was a man observed problem and added in by man?
