what parts of the bible, if any, do you take metaphorically?

Jesus speaks in parables quite often in the New Testament. He paints pictures in the heads of those he is speaking to. He compares his followers to sheep as an example. But I don't literally believe we are sheep obviously. This is a question in which I could I list these things as I read though the Bible.

I meant more so to major events like the flood.

People were bad and kids would grow to be terrible people. Flood. Restart. It's a way of saying that we should exclude wrong doings from our lives in order to be rejuvenated so to speak.
