How do you account for the fact that it is absolutely impossible for the human genome to have descended from 2 people? And if that's true and it discounts Eden how do you explain the "original sin" Christ died for?

  • Catholics do not believe in creationism. Problem solved.

Genesis=Story. Catholics read genesis for the meaning behind it, not the actual story. And that is what should be taken from it; the underlying meaning. Enough of this bullshit. -A catholic with no interest in forum debates

  • Then sin has no meaning and Jesus died for nothing. The only reason sin is supposed to exist is because Eve ate the apple.

  • Wow your a real simpleton ain't ya pal? I didn't say they can't reproduce. I said human genetics are too complex for it to be possible that 2 original humans were the start. Literally impossible.

  • It is believed by christians that humans used to live a long time like 400 years so thats alot of baby making. Once the lord split man into ethnic groups at babylon they evolved into slightly different looking humans such as asians and jews

  • I believe the question was directed at genetic diversity. After the first generation, who will the second generation mate with? Their siblings?

  • It doesn't matter how many kids you have, you still have the same genes/DNA. The problem isn't they can't have enough kids, the problem is they couldn't have spawned all the genes we have today. 2 people can not possibly be the start of an entire race.

  • You do realize every human has the same genetic code just is a different sequence. DNA ATGC mRNA AUGC auc UAG <--this is what we call a gene.

  • I've never heard of this before. How is it impossible for the ethnicities that we have to have come from only two people?

  • The complexity of human genetics can not possibly have come from 2 beings. It's to diverse. And are you asking me to explain to you exactly how genes work so you can understand how 2 black people won't make a caucasian baby? Cuz I don't have the patients. I'll leave that up to you if you really want to know.

  • Couldn't evolution solve that problem? A mutation occurs in this baby that causes him to have darker skin. He gets more vitamin D and is at lower risk for getting sunburn and is able to pass on the mutation. Is that possible?

  • Yes, that's exactly what evolution is. The problem being, evolution requires millions of years and a massive, diverse gene pool for mutations to take place in. Then those mutations have to be found either passive or useful. Natural selection kills off the more hindering mutation and the stronger more useful live on. This couldn't happen if 2 people were the beginning of it all. Not to mention Adam and Eve were supposed to exist 6000 years ago. That's not even close to enough time for evolution.

  • The specific "time" that it takes for evolution to occur is iffy since no one has documented how long it takes for a species to turn into a new species. For a small mutation (such as darkness of skin or other race-related bodily features) it shouldn't take as long as a fish turning into a bird. Wouldn't a couple hundred generations be enough to see a fairly wide-spread race of humans? For example, let's say that two white parents have a black kid due to a mutation that the kid gets. That kid, should he end up reproducing, will have the possibility to transfer that aspect to his offspring. Let's say that the black kid ends up having 4 children and one turns out to be black, the same thing happens to that kid and so forth. If this was in an environment that was very sunny then the kid who gets a mutation and becomes black is less susceptible to the harsh sun and is more likely to pass on his genes. It seems possible that that could happen in around 10,000 years. Thoughts?

  • We have seen evolution and have a rough understanding of how long it takes thanks to fossil records. It's extremely unlikely that all ethnicities could have just popped up. Not to mention we have the fossils of "humans" dating well past 10,000 years (4,000 more than creationists say the world is). And this all isn't even considering, human genetics are too complex for 2 original creatures to have started the chain. It's just not possible.

  • This is a question I have heard before. Adam and Eve were first but I believe that God followed to create others as well after humans proved to not be perfect creatures. That's what God wanted but also realized would be impossible to do if he wanted them to have free will and make decisions for themselves. Jesus dying for our sins was God's ultimate way of trying to get people to believe in him, to show people what his love is all about. There was also a point where Earth grew so dark and grotesque that he decided to flood the entire surface and wipe it clean. The second part of your question is a little vague to me. Maybe you can reword it? What exactly are you asking about the Crucifixion of Jesus?

Show me in the bible were it said that god made millions of other humans. Other wise you are trying to patch plot holes in the infallible word of god. And if you plan on bull shiting some passage (IF) know that I've read the bible more times than most Christians I know. Now to reword: Eve convinced Adam to commute the original sin that plagued man. Jesus died to repay that debt. Adam and Eve, in the biblical text, could not have existed and resulted in the multiple races and complexity of human genetics today. So if the creation story isn't true, the original sin isn't true, therefore Jesus died to pay a debt that didn't exist. And as for the flood, that never happened. It isn't possible that a planet engulfing flood took place and left no evidence behind at all.
